The Ad Council convenes creative storytellers to educate, unite and uplift audiences by opening hearts, inspiring action and accelerating change. For more than 80 years, the nonprofit organization and its partners in advertising, media, marketing and tech have been behind some of the country's most iconic social impact campaigns - Smokey Bear, Friends Don't Let Friends Drive Drunk, Tear the Paper Ceiling and many more.

The Raquel Zarin Internship Program:

Our internship program honors Raquel Zarin, a beloved employee, mentor, and friend at the Ad Council. Raquel passed away in 2021, leaving behind a legacy of dedication, integrity, and excellence that continues to inspire us. She believed in nurturing young talent, fostering welcoming environments, and championing access to lifesaving resources. At the Ad Council, these are principles and values we hold and hope that our interns will embrace and carry forward throughout their careers.

The Raquel Zarin Internship Program is a remote-first engagement and will run from June 1, 2026 - August 14, 2026. All interns will be paid $19/hour and are eligible to earn overtime. Ability to work East Coast hours is required.

Job Summary:

This internship will be a part of the Marketing and Communications team, which plays a key role in creating, crafting and driving the overarching communications strategies for the Ad Council and its social impact campaigns. The team works to surround and support the Ad Council's campaigns and causes through earned and social media, content development, talent and trusted messenger engagement, thought leadership and events. The Brand and Events intern will gain hands on experience, contributing to brand content and supporting the execution of key events. Given the nature of the role and the location of our events, we are only considering candidates who live in the New York City area.

What you'll do:

Brand Responsibilities



  • Assist the Brand team with day-to-day tasks, ensuring consistency across social, blog content, and other branded materials.
  • Draft copy for the Ad Council social media channels, including Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn, that align with campaign messaging and brand voice.
  • Contribute to the Ad Council's blog, including maintaining the editorial calendar, providing copyedits, authoring original blog posts, pitching potential story ideas and identifying thought leadership opportunities through the blog.
  • Assist in monitoring brand perception across digital platforms, tracking key conversations, and flagging engagement opportunities.
  • Support brand strategy brainstorming sessions by researching industry trends and bringing fresh ideas to the table.
  • Provide social support for tentpole moments like Cannes Lions.


Events Responsibilities



  • Assist the Events team with tasks for all events including, staff engagement activations, industry conferences, and salon dinners.
  • Create Google Forms for RSVPs for events and manage attendance.
  • Assist with hotel blocks for staff events.
  • Work with the events team in executing event accessibility and green initiatives.
  • Research and update the database of NYC private dining rooms, board meeting venues, and event spaces.
  • Research new vendors for events and food experiences.
  • Assist with coordinating intern events.


Intern Responsibilities



  • Collaborate cross-functionally with the Ad Council interns to identify the next pressing social issue to become an Ad Council campaign. The intern team will collaborate throughout the summer program to research, develop and present a campaign proposal to the Ad Council staff. You will serve as the Brand and Events lead on this organization-wide group project.
  • Collaborate with our brand content team across Ad Council social, newsletters and website communications.


What you bring:



  • Curious learner with a passion for social good and understanding of the media, marketing, and advertising landscape.
  • Strong understanding of social media platforms and trends
  • Excellent writer who can adjust copy to various mediums and audiences (including emails, social posts, blog content, event materials, etc.)
  • Sharp editorial and proofreading skills
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail and time management
  • Ability to manage content calendars and coordinate approvals
  • Experience supporting event logistics, including RSVPs, venue research and vendor coordination
  • Ability to multitask and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Self-motivated and goal-oriented
  • Collaborative team player
