Job Summary: The Senior Director, Leadership Capabilities & Innovation provides strategic leadership and oversight for the organization's leadership development, capability building, coaching excellence, and enablement innovation initiatives. This role is responsible for ensuring the commercial organization has the leadership capabilities, development programs, and innovative solutions necessary to support business performance and future growth. Reporting to the Vice President, Field Force Enablement & Excellence, the Senior Director leads the Head of Leadership & Capability Training and AI Engagement & Design functions, creating alignment across leadership development, coaching, capability advancement, and innovative enablement solutions. The role serves as a key member of the Enablement leadership team, partnering with Commercial Leadership, Human Resources, Analytics, Digital, and Operations leaders to ensure capability and innovation strategies are aligned with organizational priorities. Key Responsibilities: Leadership of Capability & Innovation Functions
- Provide leadership, direction, and oversight for the Leadership & Capability Training and AI Engagement & Design teams.
- Align team priorities, resources, and investments with commercial business objectives.
- Establish annual capability and innovation roadmaps and ensure successful execution of key initiatives.
- Create strong collaboration across training, coaching, analytics, digital, and field leadership stakeholders.
Leadership Development & Capability Oversight:
- Ensure the organization maintains effective leadership development programs, coaching frameworks, and capability-building solutions that support commercial performance.
- Guide the evolution of leadership competencies and development strategies to meet changing business needs.
- Partner with HR and Commercial Leadership to strengthen leadership pipelines and talent readiness.
- Monitor the effectiveness and impact of leadership development investments across the organization.
Innovation & Future Capability Enablement:
- Oversee the identification, prioritization, and implementation of innovative solutions that improve learning, coaching, and field effectiveness.
- Ensure AI-enabled tools and digital capabilities are aligned with business objectives and adoption goals.
- Champion a culture of innovation while maintaining appropriate governance, compliance, and business value.
- Partner with Digital, Analytics, and Technology teams to evaluate emerging opportunities to improve performance and capability development.
Strategic Partnership:
- Act as a trusted advisor to commercial leaders on leadership capability, organizational effectiveness, and future workforce needs.
- Partner across Commercial, HR, Market Access, Analytics, and Operations to align enablement investments with enterprise priorities.
- Influence senior leaders to drive adoption of capability-building and innovation initiatives.
- Ensure leadership development and innovation efforts are integrated into broader talent and commercial strategies.
Organizational Performance & Measurement:
- Establish metrics and success measures for leadership capabilities, coaching effectiveness, innovation adoption, and organizational readiness.
- Review business outcomes and capability data to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Ensure teams leverage analytics and performance insights to continuously enhance programs and solutions.
- Communicate progress, risks, and outcomes to senior leadership.
People Leadership:
- Lead, coach, and develop directors, managers, and senior professionals within the function.
- Build a high-performing, innovative, and collaborative culture.
- Drive talent development, succession planning, and capability growth within the team.
- Foster accountability for results and continuous improvement.
Qualifications: Education
- Bachelor's degree required.
- Advanced degree preferred (MBA, MS, Organizational Development, Learning & Development, Leadership, Human Resources, Business, or related field).
Experience:
- 12+ years of progressive experience in commercial training, leadership development, sales enablement, organizational effectiveness, talent development, or field force effectiveness within the pharmaceutical, biotechnology, healthcare, or related industries.
- Demonstrated success leading leadership development, coaching, and capability-building organizations.
- Experience leading leaders, managers, and highly specialized individual contributors.
- Proven ability to establish strategic direction while driving execution through teams in a matrixed environment.
- Experience partnering with senior commercial leaders to identify capability gaps and implement solutions that improve organizational performance.
- Experience overseeing innovation initiatives, including AI-enabled learning, coaching technologies, digital enablement solutions, or advanced analytics applications.
- Strong track record of influencing cross-functional stakeholders and leading enterprise-level change initiatives.
Skills & Capabilities:
- Deep knowledge of leadership development, coaching excellence, adult learning principles, and organizational capability development.
- Understanding of AI, digital learning solutions, and emerging technologies that support capability building and field force effectiveness.

Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience supporting a large U.S. commercial field organization.
- Experience building leadership curricula, coaching frameworks, and capability models across multiple leadership levels.
- Experience overseeing teams responsible for AI-enabled solutions, digital innovation, learning technologies, or advanced commercial enablement capabilities.
- Certification or formal training in leadership development, coaching, organizational development, or change management.
- Experience within specialty pharmaceutical, oncology, immunology, or rare disease commercial organizations.
