The Human Resources Manager serves as a key member of the Northern California Human Resources team, reporting to and partnering closely with the Northern California Area Human Resources Manager. This role provides consultative HR support to leaders and employees across multiple Northern California offices, delivering people-focused solutions that support business objectives, employee development, compliance, and a positive workplace culture.
In the role of Human Resources Manager, we'll count on you to: Primary Responsibilities
- Ensure the fair and consistent application of HDR policies and procedures, addressing policy and procedure questions, including those of moderate complexity
- In consultation with the Area HR Manager, handle general employee relations and performance management questions or issues for employees
- Assist staff with leaves of absence and accommodation requests
- Prepare and coordinate performance improvement plans for staff, coordinating with supervisors, managers and Area HR Manager or Corporate Employee Relations, Diversity and Inclusion department
- Oversee/drive annual performance conversation review process
- Participate in the investigation and resolution of employee concerns and complaints in coordination with the Area HR Manager and/or Regional HR Director
- Conduct employee onboarding and offboarding activities
- Prepare, oversee and manage Affirmative Action Plans for appropriate locations and identify and engage in outreach initiatives
- Coordinate trainings with the Area HR Manager and participate in the development of brown bag seminars and other local training activities for managers
- In coordination with the Area HR Manager, develop and/or present a variety of training programs as needed
- Oversee the completion of employee paperwork to corporate HR
- Review and analyze employee HRIS system queries periodically for accuracy of information
- Prepare and analyze monthly HR metrics and workforce reports, identifying trends and providing actionable recommendations to leadership.
- Monitor key HR performance indicators, including turnover, retention, headcount, recruiting activity, employee relations, and engagement metrics.

Diversity and Inclusion
- Assist with building upon current practices to institute best-in-class efforts to promote equity and inclusion at all levels of the company
- Focus on driving and supporting an inclusive work environment and on integrating diversity and equity into everyday business
- Assist with diversity, equity and inclusion functions and positive initiatives
- Create the affirmative action plan for your office(s) and engage staff in activities in support of the plan
New Hires/Recruiting
- Assist with the hiring process, creating, inputting and tracking requisitions
- Coordinate interview schedules
- Make candidate travel arrangements
- Track decisions of hiring managers on resumes
- Coordinate immigration information with Immigration Coordinator as needed
- Facilitate interviews for exempt level technical staff, participating as requested or necessary
- Oversee/lead intern recruiting program in partnership with technical staff as needed
Compensation and Benefits
- Coordinate requested compensation market studies with managers, Area HR Manager, and corporate HR
- Oversee local wellness activities (flu shots, health fairs, health club discount programs, etc.)
- Understand basic HDR benefit plan provisions, assist with employees' benefit-related questions of moderate complexity, and refers complex questions to corporate HR
- Assist the leadership with personnel administration, salary plans, and other special reports
- Assist staff in accessing benefits and navigating benefits system
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree
- A/E or construction industry experience
- PHR, SHPR, SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP certification
- Ability and willingness to travel to our Northern California Offices
Required Qualifications
- A minimum of 5 years' Human Resources experience
- Discretion and the ability to deal with confidential and sensitive information
- Strong organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and various managers in a fast-paced environment
- High proficiency with MS Office including Outlook, Word and Excel
- Excellent verbal and written communication and strong client service ability
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships
- Experience leading and attending performance conversations
- Ability to facilitate employee training
- Self-motivated, well-organized and detail-oriented
- Ability to travel 15% of the time

The expected compensation range for this position is $95,550.00 - $136,500.00 annually depending upon skills, experience, education and geographical location.
