Responsibilities

  • Enters, maintains, and reportsall medical history, medical coding, and filesclaims usinganElectronic Medical Record (EMR).
  • Patientvisit supportthatmayinclude: Greetingpatients,and escorting patient to exam roomand/or taking patients' vital signs,and other applicable medical information to effectively supportthe reason for the patients visit and recommendedtreatment.
  • Sterilizes and prepares medical instruments. Ensures patient exam rooms are disinfected, orderly, and ready for incoming patients. Providespatients with privacy, comfort, safety and hygiene.
  • Assists in maintaininginventoryand stockingsupplies, instrumentsand equipment for all exam rooms.
  • Maintains appropriate paperwork for inventory control and reviews orders received for completeness.
  • Addressesand requestsreferrals and other insurance authorizations in addition to passingalong patient information for prescription, x-ray or lab requisitions to necessaryparties. This includes calls topharmacies, hospitals, and labs

Qualifications

Job Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Basic Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and Microsoft Office knowledge.
  • BLS certification must be obtained within 14 days of hire or transfer into the role and prior to providing direct patient care.

Preferred Job Requirements:

  • Associate's degree.
  • Graduatefrom an accredited medical assistant/medical technologist school/program.
  • Prior experience in a clinic or hospital setting supporting patient care
  • Current national certification as aCertified Medical Assistant(CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA).
