Overview

The Business Initiatives Lead - Investment Data Governance & Operations is a high-impact role at the center of Allspring's investment data ecosystem. This role helps shape how investment data is sourced, governed, cleansed, validated, and delivered across the organization, enabling confident decision-making for investment, operations, risk, compliance, and client-facing teams.

We currently operate in a hybrid working model, whereby you will be required to work in-office 4 days per week.

Responsibilities

    Lead and manage the Investment Data Council, including agenda development, decision framing, stakeholder alignment, follow-up discipline, and clear documentation of outcomes.

  • Partner with business, investment, operations, technology, risk, compliance, and data governance stakeholders to prioritize enterprise data issues and drive timely resolution.

  • Oversee governance practices for critical investment data domains, including securities, issuers, benchmarks, pricing, valuation, reference data, and related investment attributes.

  • Define and strengthen data quality standards, validation rules, controls, exception management practices, escalation pathways, and governance procedures.

  • Provide strategic oversight of data sourcing, validation, processing, and distribution across internal platforms, external vendors, and downstream consumers.

  • Identify, evaluate, and support onboarding of new pricing, valuation, reference, and benchmark data sources in partnership with market data, vendor management, technology, and business users.

  • Identify opportunities to simplify, automate, reduce cost, and strengthen data operations processes using tools such as SQL, Python, PowerApps, Excel, and workflow solutions.

  • Translate complex investment data topics into clear business cases, roadmaps, actionable recommendations, and measurable outcomes for executive and cross-functional audiences.



Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Data Analytics, Information Systems, Business, or a related field.

  • 7+ years of relevant experience in investment data, investment operations, portfolio operations, data governance, reference data, market data, valuation, or a related investment services function.

  • In-depth understanding of investment data concepts, including securities, issuers, benchmarks, pricing, valuation, reference data, and/or investment product data.

  • Demonstrated experience leading cross-functional governance forums, working groups, councils, or senior stakeholder routines.

  • Strong executive presence with the ability to communicate clearly, facilitate decisions, and influence across business, investment, operations, technology, risk, and compliance teams.

  • Experience with data quality management, data cleansing, issue resolution, controls, documentation, and governance practices.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and process improvement skills with the ability to diagnose root causes and drive sustainable solutions.

  • Proficiency with data management tools and software, such as Bloomberg, Excel, SQL, VBA, Python, PowerApps, or similar technologies.

  • Remain in stationary position for prolonged periods of time

  • Operate computer programs and software

  • Ability to communicate effectively with audiences in person and in electronic formats

  • Day-to-day contact with others (co-workers and/or public)

  • Ability to work in a collaborative business environment in close quarters with peers and varying interruptions.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with accounting, trading, or investment data platforms such as APX, CRD, Bloomberg, or related enterprise data platforms.

  • Familiarity with accounting and valuation considerations across multiple asset classes, including structured products and derivatives.

  • Experience building data quality dashboards, metrics, scorecards, or executive reporting for data governance initiatives.

  • Ability to translate technical data topics into compelling business narratives, decisions, and action plans.

Compensation

Base Pay Range: $165,000 - $185,000

Actual base salary may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, time in role, base salary internal peers, prior performance, business sector, and geographic location. In addition to base salary, the competitive compensation package may include, depending on the role, participation in an incentive program linked to performance (for example, annual discretionary bonus programs, or other annual or non-annual incentive or sales plans.)
