Job Title: Network Engineer

Location(s): Coral Gables, FL

Job Summary
The Network Engineer will analyze shipboard and shoreside network requirements and implement cost-effective solutions supporting fleet operations. This role is responsible for configuring, maintaining, monitoring, and troubleshooting enterprise LAN/WAN, wireless, security, cloud, and internet connectivity infrastructure.

The position works closely with shipboard teams, shoreside IT, vendors, and project stakeholders during newbuilds, dry docks, fleet upgrades, and daily operations to deliver reliable and secure network infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze and design shipboard and shoreside data networks based on business and operational requirements.
  • Configure, implement, upgrade, and maintain enterprise network infrastructure.
  • Develop Bills of Materials (BoM) and provide end-to-end technical oversight for assigned network projects.
  • Evaluate LAN/WAN hardware, software, cloud services, and connectivity solutions and recommend improvements.
  • Develop and maintain network architecture standards, topology diagrams, procedures, and technical documentation.
  • Integrate network solutions across fleet, data center, cloud, and hybrid environments.
  • Monitor network availability, performance, and reliability using enterprise monitoring tools.
  • Proactively identify and resolve performance, capacity, and reliability issues.
  • Coordinate preventive maintenance, vendor updates, upgrades, and infrastructure changes.
  • Troubleshoot network issues involving shipboard environments, remote locations, cloud platforms, and shoreside infrastructure.
  • Support cloud, hybrid, and on-premises integrations, including change management for managed cloud and data center services.
  • Work with vendors on procurement, equipment upgrades, technical support, and issue resolution.
  • Create and maintain how-to guides, knowledge base articles, network standards, and operational procedures.
  • Schedule and monitor backups of critical network infrastructure to ensure system resilience.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation and provide technical escalation support as required.
  • Travel internationally approximately 30-35%, primarily outside the United States, for shipboard projects, dry docks, newbuilds, and operational deployments.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Networking, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant experience.
  • 3-5 years of hands-on experience configuring and managing enterprise-class networking infrastructure.
  • Recent experience in network administration, configuration, troubleshooting, and management.
  • Experience with:
    • Routers and switches
    • LAN/WAN infrastructure
    • Wireless networks
    • Firewalls and security platforms
    • Internet proxy technologies
    • Cloud networking and services
  • Experience supporting enterprise-scale network environments.
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex network issues in high-pressure operational environments.
  • Willingness and ability to travel internationally approximately 30-35%.
  • Ability to physically lift and install network equipment, with reasonable accommodation where applicable.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in shipboard, maritime, cruise, offshore, or other highly distributed network environments.
  • Experience supporting newbuilds, dry docks, fleetwide infrastructure deployments, or large-scale network upgrades.
  • Mid-level or advanced networking certifications.
  • Experience with satellite connectivity, including Starlink or comparable technologies.
  • Experience with network automation and orchestration.

Travel & Work Environment

  • International travel: approximately 30-35%.
  • Travel will primarily be outside the United States.
  • Travel may include ships, dry dock facilities, newbuild locations, remote sites, and other operational environments.
  • Participation in an on-call rotation is required.
  • Role may require physical installation and handling of networking equipment.
