Shift:Monday - Friday, 10:30pm - 7:00am, Every other weekend Work Arrangement:On-Site Department: Housekeeping Facility: University Hospital - 1 Hospital Drive, Columbia, MO * Base Pay Range: $15.78 - $22.53 per hour, based on experience * Shift Differentials: Additional $2.00 per hour for Night shift Union Bid Period: 8/13/26 - 8/19/26 The Environmental Services Technician performs environmental services cleaning tasks in a healthcare setting with a strong emphasis on infection prevention, safety, and customer service. Completes cleaning routines in patient care areas, restrooms, procedure rooms, public areas, and ancillary spaces. Handles soiled linen and medical waste and maintains confidentiality in sensitive environments. Adheres to all infection control protocols and personal protective equipment (PPE) guidelines. DETAILED JOB DESCRIPTION * Performs routine cleaning tasks in patient rooms, procedure areas, restrooms, public areas, clinics, and offices according to established protocols. * Interacts professionally with patients, visitors, staff, and the public, using approved scripting and maintaining a service-oriented approach. * Maintains patient confidentiality and privacy in compliance with HIPAA guidelines. * Follows all infection control guidelines, including the use of PPE and isolation room procedures. * Handles soiled linen, regular waste, and medical waste in accordance with department safety standards. * Delivers and stocks clean linen, monitors par levels, and enters data using handheld or desktop computers. * Operates equipment such as vacuums and carts safely and reports any maintenance or safety issues to the supervisor. * Follows safety protocols when working with wet floors, ladders, and cleaning equipment to prevent accidents. * Maintains equipment in clean, safe working condition and ensures the work area is compliant with inspection standards. * May assist Floor Care Technicians or support team development tasks as assigned. * May complete unit/department-specific duties as outlined in department documents. PHYSICAL DEMANDS The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met with or without reasonable accommodation. This position is very active and may require ambulating, remaining in a stationary position and positioning self to reach and/or move objects above the shoulders and below the knees. The employee must frequently lift and/or move objects up to 10 lbs. and occasionally move objects up to 25 lbs. or more. This role may also routinely comes into contact with patients who may have contagious illnesses. This position is in a health care facility open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
