Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Fresh Thyme Market, a young, fast-growing natural foods grocery retailer opening throughout the Midwest and beyond, is looking for a Director of Marketing -Loyalty, Digital Commerce, and Community Affairs to be based out of the support office located in Downers Grove, a western suburb of Chicago. An important leadership role at Fresh Thyme Markets, the Director of Marketing -Loyalty, Digital Commerce, and Community Affairs to lead all strategic retail marketing planning and execution in support of our growing retail store base of 60+ locations to increase brand awareness and customer engagement, driving sales and traffic, as well as increasing market share.

As the Director of Marketing - Loyalty, Digital Commerce, and Community Affairs for Fresh Thyme Market, this individual will oversee the successful cross-functional execution of: annual unified marketing planning and calendar development/communication, marketing campaign development and deployment, in-store marketing initiatives, unified customer communication, promotional planning, point of purchase materials, customer loyalty platform, and shopper insights analytics, digital/social media and customer engagement, vendor relations, and new store openings, Fresh Thyme brand promise, pillars and overall identity, and vision to define the strategy for digital shopping.

*Position follows a hybrid schedule Monday-Wednesday in office, Thursday-Friday remote.

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Oversees a unified team of Leaders responsible for marketing, loyalty, digital commerce and community affairs.
  • Responsible for driving customer loyalty initiatives through marketing with shopper insights and analytics.
  • Lead the vision and strategic development of ecommerce/digital shopping.
  • Champion of Fresh Thyme brand identity.
  • Provide vision and strategic guidance to digital commerce and digital merchandising team.
  • Partners with the GVP of Merchandising & Marketing to develop the marketing strategy and communication of this strategy throughout the organization;
  • Responsible for the timely development/delivery of high impact, cost effective unified marketing plans and programs, including annual planning and budgeting, to build brand awareness and customer engagement as measured by increased sales and growth in digital platform engagement;
  • Leads cross-functional teams in the development of all Retail Marketing initiatives, from planning thru execution and post-analysis;
  • Partners with the Creative Team to develop compelling creative while enhancing and extending the brand;
  • Builds relationships with media partners to develop elevated branded store experiences;
  • Partners with Store Operations and Merchandising to deliver timely communication, training, tools to ensure flawless execution of all relevant marketing initiatives;
  • Responsible for all promotional planning/communication/execution/measurement;
  • Oversees the development/delivery of innovative, effective marketing for new store openings ensuring achievement of planned sales;
  • Leads the development and execution of key national/local brand events in partnership with regional market teams;
  • Responsible for managing and developing two Marketing Managers.

Requirements:

  • Passion for retail marketing and delivering exceptional consumer experiences at retail
  • Strong promotional management experience
  • Proven experience working successfully with senior leadership
  • Is a team player with proven experience working effectively across the organization and building high performance teams
  • Ability to think strategically, conceptually, creatively while executing flawlessly
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and multi-task, while being detail oriented and poised under pressure
  • Quantitative ability to manage budgets and analysis
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word/Excel/Outlook/PowerPoint

Education and Experience:

  • BA with 8-10 years of brand/retail marketing experience
  • Grocery industry preferred
  • 5+ years of Marketing Leadership experience required
  • 5+ years of Community Affairs oversight with strong understanding of Public Relations required

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office along with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with developing, maintaining and updating schedules and reports for various projects.
  • Advanced customer service skills. Able to diplomatically communicate.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize and work efficiently; excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently, self-starter, energetic.
  • Ability to perform at high levels in a fast paced ever-changing work environment.
  • Ability to anticipate work needs and follow through with minimal direction.
  • Possess outstanding organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Previous project management experience preferred
  • Flexible work schedule (including weekend events)
  • Travel to stores 15 - 25%

The pay range for this position is listed below. The actual rate offered will meet or surpass the legal wage requirement for the job's location.

$137,500.00 - $224,500.00

This pay range represents the minimum and maximum base pay for the position, which is determined by factors such as market data, the qualifications required, the level of responsibilities associated with the role and other roles at this same level. Specific pay rates will be within this range and based on your experience, qualifications, and skills compared to the internal team of this role.

Compensation for this position also includes incentive bonus opportunities that may vary based on individual and company performance. Specific details will be discussed during the hiring process.
