Insurance Market Conduct Examiner Trainee

As an Insurance Market Conduct Examiner Trainee with the Insurance Department, you will build a strong foundation in evaluating how insurance companies operate. This role focuses on learning how to review insurance company practices to ensure compliance with Pennsylvania laws. You will develop skills needed to support fair treatment of consumers and proper industry operations. As an Insurance Market Conduct Examiner Trainee, you will perform the following duties:

• Exam Participation: Participate in market conduct examinations at company sites, department offices, or through telework to assess compliance with statutes and regulations
• Record Review: Review company records, policy documents, complaints, and related materials to evaluate compliance during examinations
• Violation Identification: Identify violations of laws and make sure supporting documentation is collected by examiners
• Claims Evaluation: Evaluate claims handling processes, analyze payment trends, identify issues, and recommend corrective actions
• Licensing Verification: Ensure insurance producers maintain proper and active licenses

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

• Full-time employment
• Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch.
• Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
• Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

• Four years of paraprofessional experience in insurance, risk management, business administration, public administration, public policy, finance, economics, or accounting; or
• A bachelor's degree in insurance, risk management, business administration, public administration, public policy, finance, economics, accounting, or a related area; or
• An equivalent combination experience and training.
• Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 6 months of graduating with a qualifying degree.
