The Georgia State University Police Department is seeking a Monitoring Center Operator to join the already awesome team and keep the Department at the level of excellence that it has strived to become and sustain. This role involves monitoring alarms, CCTV footage, highly confidential information, and other surveillance equipment, responding to incidents, and maintaining accurate records of all activities and incidents.

The Georgia State University Police Department provides law enforcement, security, and safety services to the university community and the immediate surrounding areas, ensuring a safe environment for our students, faculty, staff, and neighbors.

Georgia State boasts one of the largest university police forces in the state, with over 120 officers across all six Atlanta metro campuses.

The Department is accredited and certified by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc. (CALEA), the International Association of Campus Law Enforcement (IACLEA), and the State of Georgia Law Enforcement Certification Program.

HERE IS WHAT YOU WILL DO:

The Monitoring Center Administrator is responsible for monitoring alarms, CCTV footage, and other surveillance equipment, responding to incidents, and maintaining accurate records of all activities and incidents.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Promptly respond to alarms, security breaches and other emergencies.
  • Coordinate with security personnel, law enforcement, and emergency services as needed.
  • Dispatch security personnel to incident locations and provide necessary information for effective response.
  • Maintain accurate logs and reports of all monitored activities, incidents and responses.
  • Document and report any security breaches, incidents, or anomalies observed during monitoring.
  • Ensure all data is stored securely and in compliance with GSU polices and regulations.
  • Communicates effectively with various safety and first responders across campuses.
  • Provide clear and concise information and instructions during incidents.
  • Adhere to all GSU policies, procedures, and legal regulations related to security and monitoring.
  • Assists employees, visitors, and clients with security-related inquiries and concerns.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications :

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree; or a high school diploma or GED and four years of customer service, administrative or office experience; or a combination of education and experience.

Preferred Hiring Requirements:

  • Experienced at using security monitoring systems and equipment.
  • Exhibits excellent customer service.
  • Demonstrates excellent verbal and written communication skills.
