Accounting Manager / Sr. Accounting Manager

hireEZ | Dallas-Fort Worth, TX

About the role

hireEZ is an AI-native recruiting platform. Our accounting function is established and structured: audited financials, a modern cloud ERP, documented processes across the close, revenue, and compliance, and a real external audit and tax cycle.

We run it deliberately lean, and we expect leverage to come from tooling and process rather than headcount. This role leads accounting operations, owns our technical accounting positions, and serves as the review layer over the work the team produces.

This is a hands-on, player-coach role. You'll run the close yourself and lead the team at the same time. If you want a role that's purely management, this isn't it.

What you'll own The monthly close

You own the close: the calendar, the assignments, the dependencies, and the timeline. Your goal is a fast, predictable close with clear ownership on every step.

Technical accounting
  • Own our revenue recognition positions under ASC 606, including multi-year deals, contract modifications, revenue share arrangements, and partner referrals.
  • Own the judgment areas that matter for a SaaS business: contract acquisition costs, capitalization questions, stock-based compensation, and reserve methodology.
  • Write and maintain the technical memos behind these positions.
  • Own the relationship with our external auditors and tax advisors, including the audit timeline and PBC package.
Review and controls
  • Serve as the reviewer on the technical journal entries and reconciliations the team prepares.
  • Own our internal controls framework: approval thresholds, duty separation, and documentation.
  • Own our external reporting packages.
The accounting stack

We run a modern cloud ERP and finance stack. You own the chart of accounts, the integrations, and the automation roadmap.

We're an AI company. We expect you to use AI tooling aggressively on your own workflow and to have strong opinions about what should be automated first.

What you'll manage

You'll lead a distributed accounting team, with additional hiring likely within the year. You'll work daily with our FP&A lead and directly with the executive team on close approval.

This is a distributed team. Your reports and most of the finance organization sit in other time zones, and a meaningful part of your job is reviewing their work. You should be someone who runs a tight remote operating rhythm by default: clear handoffs, written standards, and no reliance on hallway conversations.

Managing the team is half the job. The other half is your own hands on the work: reviewing technical entries, closing the books, and writing the positions behind them. If your plan is to delegate the accounting and manage people, you will not succeed here.

What we're looking for Required
  • 6+ years in accounting, with a mix of public accounting audit experience and in-house work at a venture-backed company.
  • You have personally owned a monthly close, not supervised one.
  • You have personally written a revenue recognition memo that an auditor reviewed.
  • Strong ASC 606 in a SaaS or subscription context: deferred revenue, multi-element arrangements, contract modifications, contract acquisition costs.
  • Hands-on in a modern cloud ERP. You configure it yourself, you don't file tickets.
  • You've been through an external audit as the company-side owner.
  • Advanced spreadsheet work, and comfort building and breaking your own models.
  • You've managed at least one person and can point to how they got better.
  • CPA preferred.
Who this is not right for
  • Anyone who has managed a large team but hasn't posted a journal entry in years.
  • Anyone who needs a large team and heavy structure to be effective.
  • Anyone who wants to specialize. This role is broad by design.
Compensation

Our total rewards package includes base salary, year-end bonus based on company performance and individual performance, equity and a comprehensive benefits plan.
