About This Role

Housing and Dining Services announces two Food Service Supervisor opportunities (early and evening shifts) at Van Zile Dining Services, located in the beautifully renovated historic Van Zile Hall. As part of a soon-to-open dining facility, you'll play a key role in creating another on-campus exceptional dining experience for students in a dynamic, customer focused, high volume environment. Join our award winning dining team and help launch an exciting new operation. Duties and responsibilities include:
* Oversee daily food preparation and production control, ensuring that menu items meet established standards for taste, presentation, and timeliness.
* Foster an environment of learning and growth through coaching, mentoring, and ongoing training that builds technical and teamwork skills.
* Ensure compliance with food safety and sanitation standards by implementing and monitoring safe food handling, allergen awareness, and proper equipment use.
* Collaborate with management and staff to plan production schedules, coordinate special events, and maintain open communication that supports smooth operations and a positive workplace culture.
* Demonstrate effective resource management through careful inventory oversight, waste reduction, and organized workflows that maximize productivity.
* Lead by example to uphold high standards of quality, safety, and service while creating a supportive, efficient work environment.

What You'll Need to Succeed

Minimum Qualifications:



  • Requires one year of relevant experience. Requirements may be met through a combination of education and experience.


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Considerable knowledge of large scale food preparation, equipment, health sanitation, and safety procedures.
  • Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions.
  • Ability to follow standardized recipes and to consistently produce quality, standardized products.
  • Strong organization and coaching skills that support positive encouragement off others.
  • Prefer the ability to interact effectively with others and have a commitment to providing quality service and products.
