JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Penn State Mont Alto - Student Affairs is seeking a part-time staff member (20-24 hours per week) for the Wiestling Student Center. This opening will support the regular operation and maintenance of the spaces in the student center including desk coverage, greeting and interacting with the individuals in the center, providing access to entertainment opportunities, doing rounds and tracking building usage, hosting events and creating a welcoming environment for students. Staff will assist with event promotion utilizing dry-erase and chalk boards and by ensuring the creation and distribution of flyers, posters, digital signage, emails and photos on campus and via social media. Staff will also complete clerical duties including mail retrieval, copying, and collecting various forms. Other responsibilities include assisting with student organizations' needs and requests. This role will report to the Associate Director of Student Affairs or their designee.

  • Provide support to the Student Life Coordinator(s) and the Student Affairs Administrative Assistant, assisting with the execution of events and projects including campus communications, campus event research and selection, event/program preparation, implementation and coverage, tear-down/clean up, analysis, assessment.
  • May also assist with the chaperoning of student trips, and other duties as needed/assigned.

Hours may be altered when students not on site. (Official campus closures, holidays, Fall/Winter/Spring break).

Requirements and Qualifications

  • The ability to work comfortably with diverse populations.

  • Working knowledge of the University's academic structure and various resources.

  • High levels of maturity exhibited through sound judgment, emotional stability, flexibility,andwillingness to accept responsibility.

  • A warm, supportive, and non-judgmental attitude.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills through proven ability to interact effectively with others one-on-one, in small groups, and in large group formats.

  • Evening and Weekend hours may be required.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office and photography is a plus.

Compensation: The starting rate for this job is $18.00.

BACKGROUND CHECKS/CLEARANCES

Employment with the University will require successful completion of background check(s) in accordance with University policies.
