Group/Division

With over 40 years of semiconductor process control experience, chipmakers around the globe rely on KLA to ensure that their fabs ramp next-generation devices to volume production quickly and cost-effectively. Enabling the movement towards advanced chip design, KLA's Global Products Group (GPG), which is responsible for creating all of KLA's metrology and inspection products, is looking for the best and the brightest research scientist, software engineers, application development engineers, and senior product technology process engineers. The RAPID division is the world leading provider of reticle inspection solutions for the semiconductor industry. The company provides inspection solutions to both the mask shops and the semiconductor fabs to ensure that lithography yields are consistently high thus enabling cost-effective manufacturing.

Job Description/Preferred Qualifications

Position Summary

The Electrical Engineering Manager leads a small, high-impact team (up to 7 engineers across electrical and mechanical disciplines) responsible for the design and development of electrical and control systems for advanced reticle inspection platforms, including EUV Actinic systems.

This role owns system-level electrical architecture, power distribution, interconnect design, and control system integration for highly complex semiconductor capital equipment. The position requires strong technical leadership, cross-functional coordination, and disciplined execution across product development cycles.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Leadership

  • Lead design and development of:

    • Electrical interconnect systems and cable architecture

    • AC/DC power distribution systems

    • Electrical cabinets, racks, and chassis

    • System-level electrical and controls architecture

  • Define and integrate PLC-based control systems (Allen-Bradley, Beckhoff) including hardware architecture and I/O strategy

  • Ensure designs meet performance, reliability, serviceability, and cost targets

People Management

  • Manage, mentor, and develop a team of up to 7 engineers

  • Drive performance management, goal setting, and career development

  • Build a strong technical culture emphasizing accountability and innovation

Product Development Execution

  • Lead team through full product lifecycle: concept design integration release

  • Support system integration of:

    • Ultra-high vacuum (UHV) subsystems

    • Precision motion/control systems (position, force, robotics)

    • Thermal and pressure control

  • Drive issue resolution using structured methodologies (RCCA, 8D)

Compliance & Standards

  • Ensure compliance with:

    • SEMI S2 / S10

    • UL 508A

    • NFPA 79

    • NRTL certification requirements

    • Customer specifications (e.g., Samsung Common Spec)

  • Support safety reviews, risk assessments, and certification processes

Cross-Functional Execution

  • Partner with Mechanical, Optical, Controls, Systems Engineering, Manufacturing, and Field teams

  • Drive alignment across disciplines to resolve complex system integration challenges

Program & Financial Management

  • Own project scope, schedule, and engineering deliverables

  • Manage project budgets and engineering financials

  • Identify risks, develop mitigation plans, and communicate status to leadership

Required Qualifications

Technical Skills

  • Strong expertise in:

    • Electrical system design for complex equipment

    • AC/DC power distribution and control systems

    • Electrical interconnect and cable routing design

  • Hands-on experience with PLC systems:

    • Allen-Bradley (Rockwell) and/or Beckhoff

    • PLC system architecture, I/O design, and integration

  • Experience with:

    • Ultra-high vacuum (UHV) systems

    • Precision motion systems (robotics, stages)

    • Thermal, pressure, and force control

Tools & Systems

  • Experience working with:

    • MCAD / ECAD integration workflows

    • PDM / PLM systems

  • Preferred:

    • Creo (MCAD)

    • Zuken (ECAD)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with highly advanced electro-mechanical systems

  • Background in high-precision metrology or imaging platforms

  • Familiarity with EtherCAT-based motion/control systems

  • Experience with global suppliers and high-volume manufacturing environments

    • PLC system architecture, I/O design, and integration

  • Experience with:

    • Ultra-high vacuum (UHV) systems

    • Precision motion systems (robotics, stages)

    • Thermal, pressure, and force control

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree or higher in related field or equivalent combination of any relevant education and experience

6+ years of relevant experience with proven ability to lead including 2 + years of management experience
