Overview

SCCI is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to join our team! We are building a portfolio of capabilities for the Navy and DoD with emphasis on AR/VR training systems, AI/ML-driven analysis tools, and model-based engineering platforms. We're hiring a Senior Systems Engineer to be the technical integration backbone across this portfolio: turning loosely defined R&D objectives into structured requirements, MVPs, and delivery plans, ensuring our individual projects function as one coherent capability suite. This position is available for immediate hire and located in Dahlgren, VA.

SCCI offers a comprehensive and competitive benefits package including Health, Dental, Vision, Life and Disability benefits, 401k with Company Match, time off consisting of 2 weeks of paid vacation, 48 hours of sick/personal leave, and 11 paid Holidays.

Responsibilities:

  • Define MVP scope, requirements, and phased delivery plans for emerging efforts that start as loosely scoped concepts
  • Apply MBSE methods (Cameo/SysML or equivalent) to model architectures, interfaces, and dependencies across concurrent projects
  • Identify integration points and conflicts across AR/VR and AI/ML efforts before they become problems
  • Lead trade-off analysis across cost, schedule, capability, and survivability
  • Manage technical schedules, risk registers, and integration roadmaps across multiple project leads
  • Apply Navy/DoD training and systems domain knowledge to requirements definition
  • Mentor project leads on requirements traceability, V&V planning, and architecture discipline
  • Brief technical status and roadmaps to executive leadership and customers

Qualifications

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen and have an active Secret Security Clearance
  • Bachelor of Science (BS) degree from an accredited college or university in an engineering, scientific, or technical discipline

  • Hands-on MBSE experience (Cameo Systems Modeler, SysML, or equivalent)
  • Demonstrated experience managing programs with DoD customers, program offices, or contracting authorities, with an understanding of DoD acquisition culture, review processes, and stakeholder expectations
  • Demonstrated experience planning and executing formal DoD technical reviews including and milestones, managing entry/exit criteria, artifact preparation, action item tracking, and stakeholder coordination
  • Demonstrated success defining MVP requirements, schedules, and plans from ambiguous objectives; Experience managing R&D or prototype-focused programs where requirements evolve, deliverables are iterative, and success is measured by demonstrated capability rather than traditional contract deliverables
  • Demonstrated proficiency with integrated master schedule development and maintenance using Microsoft Project, Smartsheet, or equivalent scheduling tools. Experience managing resource allocation across parallel R&D efforts, identifying conflicts and constraints before they impact delivery commitments. Proficiency with Atlassian suite (Jira, Confluence) for program tracking, action item management, and cross-functional documentation
  • Working fluency in AI/ML and AR/VR domain concepts sufficient to participate meaningfully in technical reviews and represent program status credibly and to identify AR/VR and AI/ML integration challenges
  • Demonstrated experience maintaining and managing program risk register, including risk identification, mitigation planning, ownership assignment, and status reporting to government customers. Proven ability to distinguish and manage execution risk independently while effectively escalating and communicating technical risk owned by the development team
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and evaluating training systems, simulation, or naval warfare systems
  • Proficiency with Google Workspace and Microsoft Office suite including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint for reporting, briefing preparation, and contract deliverable production
