The Roads and Highways Practice is seeking a Senior Project Manager in Denver, CO.

This role leads the delivery of complex transportation projects across Colorado, with a strong emphasis on Roads and Highways work, while also helping grow and strengthen key client relationships in the market. On a daily basis, this person will engage directly with clients and stakeholders, manage project delivery responsibilities, and work closely with multi-disciplinary teams to help keep projects on track in terms of scope, schedule, budget, quality, and profitability. They will also help shape pursuit strategy, support business development efforts, and identify opportunities to expand work with existing clients. As a senior leader, this person will contribute to client experience, mentor project managers and technical staff, and help influence how work is delivered and grown across the Colorado transportation market.

What You'll Do Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead and manage Roads and Highways projects from pursuit through delivery and closeout
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for clients, building strong relationships and ensuring a consistent, high-quality client experience
  • Deliver projects on time, within budget, and aligned with quality and profitability expectations
  • Manage project setup, scope, schedule, budget, and contract execution
  • Oversee invoicing, accounts receivable, cost-to-complete forecasting, and overall financial performance
  • Coordinate and lead multi-disciplinary project teams and subconsultants across complex projects
  • Identify and support business development opportunities, including pursuit strategy, proposal development, teaming decisions, and expansion of existing client relationships in the Colorado market
  • Provide input on project staffing, team performance, and teaming partners
  • Mentor and support the development of project managers and technical staff
  • Collaborate closely with Market Leaders and Client Team Leaders to align delivery with client and market needs
  • Support client profitability, project recovery efforts, and favorable project outcomes across assigned work
  • Provide coaching, mentorship and feedback to project managers and delivery teams on client expectations, project performance, and team effectiveness
  • Represent DEA as one company by identifying opportunities to bring the right teams and services to client needs
What You Bring Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required
  • Willingness to become certified or provisionally certified through DEA's Project Manager Program
  • Minimum of 10+ years of progressive experience in transportation engineering, with a focus on Roads and Highways
  • Demonstrated experience working with transportation clients and agencies in Colorado, including client-facing project leadership and coordination with local stakeholders
  • Proven ability to manage project financial performance, including budgeting, forecasting, and profitability
  • Experience leading client relationships and serving as a primary client contact
  • Strong understanding of project delivery processes, including contracts, change management, and project controls
  • Track record of delivering high-quality work and achieving strong client satisfaction
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Direct experience delivering work for CDOT and/or local Colorado transportation agencies
  • Established relationships with key transportation clients in the Colorado market
  • Experience leading or supporting business development efforts, including proposal development, pursuits, and teaming decisions for transportation work
  • Background in roadway, corridor, or major transportation infrastructure projects
  • Experience collaborating closely with structures or bridge teams in an integrated delivery environment
  • Prior experience working within a consulting engineering firm of similar scale and complexity with responsibility for both project delivery and client development
  • Active involvement in industry organizations such as ASCE, ACEC, WTS, ITE, or similar groups
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor project managers, guide delivery teams, and help strengthen client-facing performance
  • Experience balancing project delivery responsibilities with client development, pipeline building, and pursuit leadership
