About The Position

The Distribution System Operating Supervisor is responsible for directing field personnel in the operation of the subtransmission and distribution system in a safe and cost effective manner to ensure continuity of electric service to customers as well as restore electric service to customers in a timely manner.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Dispatch and direct field personnel in response to electric distribution system emergencies.

  • Exercise jurisdictional / functional authority and issue and monitor Workmen's Protection Assurance for the electric distribution system.

  • Direct field personnel in the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of the electric distribution system along with maintaining the integrity of the subtransmission and distribution systems.

  • Coordinate all maintenance and restoration activities on the subtransmission and distribution systems.

  • Write and dispatch switching orders to isolate equipment which may include analyzing loads and equipment ratings. Maintain accurate records of these orders.

  • Restore outages in a safe and timely manner. This includes analyzing information from a variety of electronic systems, operating manuals, customer calls, and any pertinent information from field workers to determine the extent and the cause of outages.

  • The DSOS I works rotating shift schedules in an office environment. Participates in storm restoration and emergency response activities, including working extended hours, as required.

Qualifications (DSOS I)

High School Diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor of Science Degree from an accredited college or university preferred. Two or more years relevant experience (e.g., distribution systems, dispatch, electric operations or construction, journeyman level electrician) required. Pass the SO/PD II Test (required).

Qualifications (DSOS II)

High School Diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor of Science Degree from an accredited college or university preferred. Five or more years directly relevant experience (e.g., distribution systems, electric operations or construction, journeyman level electrician, dispatch experience, DSOS) required without Bachelors Degree; Three or more years of other relevant experience may be considered with Bachelor's Degree. Pass the SO/PD II Test (required).

In addition to the above qualifications, the successful candidate will demonstrate:

Working knowledge of distribution system design and operations. PC/Computer skills preferred. Must have the ability to direct and supervise a number of diversified, concurrent field activities which could greatly affect Ameren's customers, personnel, and financial resources.

Additional Information

Ameren's selection process includes a series of interviews and may include candidate testing and/or an individual aptitude or skill-based assessment. Specific details will be provided to qualified candidates.

Compensation Range:

$84,400.00 - $162,900.00

* This pay range encompasses multiple levels of the role. Career level and compensation depends upon applicant's credentials.

At Ameren, base salary is one component of a competitive compensation package for employees. Our pay ranges are broad to allow for movement within our organization and to accommodate different skill sets and levels of expertise. We take into consideration a variety of factors including, but not limited to, skills, abilities, experience, education, credentials, and internal equity when determining the base salary offered. Roles are eligible for additional rewards including annual incentive payments based on individual and company performance.
