Job Summary

We are seeking a Data Center Technician I to support the installation, decommissioning, maintenance, and testing of network and cabling infrastructure within data center environments. This role is open to entry-level candidates with construction, commercial cabling, or data center installation experience who are looking to build a career in the telecom and low-voltage industry. The technician will assist with copper and fiber cabling installations, infrastructure hardware deployment, equipment installations, and project support while adhering to strict safety, quality, and operational standards. Success in this role requires attention to detail, the ability to follow technical documentation, and a commitment to teamwork and safety.

Job Responsibilities




  • Install, route, dress, and secure copper and fiber optic cabling within data center environments.



  • Perform cable terminations and continuity testing for copper and fiber infrastructure.



  • Assist with the installation, decommissioning, and maintenance of network and cabling systems.



  • Rack, stack, and support the installation of network, server, and telecommunications equipment.



  • Install infrastructure components including ladder racks, fiber trays, cabinets, seismic bracing, and cable support systems.



  • Read and interpret blueprints, rack elevations, technical drawings, and project documentation.



  • Assist with outside plant (OSP) fiber installations entering data center facilities.



  • Receive, organize, and inventory materials and equipment required for project execution.



  • Utilize telecom hand tools and testing equipment safely and effectively.



  • Maintain compliance with all safety policies, procedures, and quality standards.



  • Keep work areas clean, organized, and free of hazards.



  • Collaborate with team members, supervisors, and project stakeholders to ensure successful project completion.




Job Requirements




  • High School Diploma or GED required.



  • Entry-level candidates with construction, commercial cabling, low-voltage, or data center installation experience are encouraged to apply.



  • Experience with structured cabling systems, including copper and fiber optic installations, preferred.



  • Basic understanding of cable termination methods, testing procedures, and telecommunications infrastructure.



  • Ability to read and interpret technical documentation, blueprints, and installation standards.



  • Familiarity with telecom hand tools, including punch tools, snips, pliers, tape measures, and related equipment.



  • OSHA 10 certification preferred.



  • Ability to work on ladders, lifts, and in confined spaces.



  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and move materials weighing up to 75 pounds with or without assistance.



  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and perform physical tasks throughout the work shift.



  • Must provide basic hand tools, including a multi-bit screwdriver, snips, punch tool, pliers, tape measure, flashlight, tool pouch, and steel-toe or composite-toe work boots.



  • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment.




Work Experience




  • Previous experience in commercial structured cabling, construction, low-voltage systems, telecommunications, or data center environments preferred.



  • Experience with fiber optic and copper cabling installations is beneficial but not required for entry-level candidates.

Additional Job Details (Commute, Attendance, etc.)




  • Shift: 8-hour shift, typically 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM.



  • Schedule and shift hours may be adjusted based on project and operational requirements.



  • Contract-to-hire opportunity based on performance and business needs.



  • Work will be performed in data center and commercial construction environments while following all site-specific safety requirements.
