DESCRIPTION

Under general supervision, performs a variety of work duties which requires specific knowledge and training in patient care duties within business and professions code of the State of California and/or the regulations The Joint Commission (TJC). These duties also include but are not limited to: environmental care functions, equipment/supply management and cleaning/disinfecting the environment. Incumbents may also provide front office services on a routine or back-up basis, including management of scheduling work queues.

The Lead Medical Assistant provides training and oversees other medical assistants and serves as a resource for the entire department. Responsibilities include providing direction, scheduling and training. The Lead Medical Assistant Initiates and participates in improvement efforts which directly impact the clinic. Other Lead duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) OR Certificate of completion of a Medical Assistant training program.

  • BART or BLS at time of hire with commitment to get BART within six (6) months of hire date.

  • Three (3) years of Medical Assistant experience within an ambulatory academic healthcare setting.

  • Experience with on-the-job training of other medical assistants.

  • Knowledge of medical terminology, on-line scheduling, universal precautions and proper use of body mechanics.

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing.

  • Ability to be flexible with varying demands in a small specialty clinic.

  • Previous leadership experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Ambulatory Care or Surgical Practice experience.

  • Otolaryngology, ENT, or Head and Neck experience.

  • Knowledge of EMR, EPIC.

  • Experience with patient photography using Mirror/Vectra imaging software.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS
  • Must be able to work various locations based on business needs.
  • Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $60,239 - $75,001 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $28.85 - $35.92

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
