About the Role

This position is accountable for providing leadership and strategic management of teams of account management and new business sales professionals and Account Consultants. Responsible for driving a culture of execution with a focus on obtaining new quality business, the conservation of existing accounts, increasing the profitability of the book of business, and the growth of additional lines of business to existing customers. This position requires execution and growth in our business as well as working closely with all distribution channels, brokers, and consultants. This position is also responsible for following market trends, introducing new products, and growing market share in all segments.

What You'll Do

  • Directs department by providing strategy and related goals to day-to-day managers, ensuring overall client satisfaction and appropriate level of service delivery across all functional areas.
  • Develops and monitors goals for staff and provides ongoing feedback and coaching.
  • Conducts performance reviews on an annual basis and actively manages performance issues.
  • Directs the employment activities of the office that include staffing, development, and training.
  • Ensures staff meets all licensing requirements and comprehends and complies with sales and account management best practices, professional standards, internal policies, and procedures.
  • Determines departmental budget and conducts ongoing expense management.
  • Ensures sales and account management staff are pursuing quality business that will be profitable and appropriate for the enterprise.
  • Develops and maintains relationships with accounts to enhance credibility and reinforce presence in the marketplace.
  • Approves and implements changes and enhancements to product design, pricing, and sales strategy, in collaboration with Underwriting.
  • Interfaces with key areas of the enterprise to ensure world-class service.
  • Conducts annual sales forecasting, determination of market potential, and the preparation of annual budgets.
  • Utilizes a consultative approach in managing the business.
  • Manages enrollment team to ensure all new Labor/Public clients and members are enrolled in the program in a timely and accurate fashion.
  • Accountable for maintaining effective internal controls over the processes and transactions under areas of responsibility including the completeness and accuracy of financial information and transactions, compliance with applicable laws and regulations, and the effectiveness and efficiency of operations.

What You Bring

Education/Experience

  • Requires a bachelors degree in a related field.
  • Prefers an MBA
  • Requires a minimum of fifteen (15) years of experience in the health care industry with a proven record of sales success and positive existing client relationships.
  • Requires prior supervisory or management experience including leading teams and developing direct report

Additional licensing, certifications, registrations

  • Requires a New Jersey Health Insurance License.
  • Requires a valid New Jersey drivers license.

Knowledge

  • Must be proficient in the use of personal computers and supporting software in a Windows based environment, including MS Office products (Word, Excel,
  • PowerPoint) and Lotus Notes; Should be knowledgeable in the use of intranet and internet applications.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of healthcare industry, including sales, enrollment, financial/economic drivers, and underwriting principles.
  • Deep understanding and knowledge of the managed care environment.
  • Understanding of all market segments.
  • Possesses a solid reputation with consultants and brokers.

Travel throughout the United State is required.

Salary Range:

$143,100 - $184,065

This position is eligible for sales incentive compensation in addition to base pay. This compensation range is specific to the job level and takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including but not limited to: education, experience, licensure, certifications, geographic location, and internal equity. This range has been created in good faith based on information known to Horizon at the time of posting. Compensation decisions are dependent on the circumstances of each case.
