Job Summary

GWUH is seeking a MedicalSurgical Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Neuro | Ortho | Trauma unit (6 North). This role is ideal for MedSurg RNs who are interested in caring for a diverse acutecare patient population and expanding their skills in neurologic and traumarelated conditions within a highly supported academic environment. The RN provides direct patient care to individuals with a wide range of medical and postoperative needs, including patients with neurologic injuries such as stroke, traumatic brain injury, and spine conditions.

Unit Overview

6 North is a 42bed, multispecialty acute care unit supporting patients across medicalsurgical, neurologic, orthopedic, and trauma diagnoses. The unit is designated as a:

  • Comprehensive Stroke Unit
  • Level IV Epilepsy Center

The unit utilizes advanced monitoring technology and supports nurses transitioning from MedicalSurgical practice through structured orientation, preceptorship, and ongoing education.

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited or NLN-approved RN program.
  • BLS
  • Current state nursing license.
  • Prefer one year full time or three years part time experience in acute care setting.
  • Requirements specified for specialty unit
