Financial Planning Analyst

Impact and Opportunity


The FP&A Analyst will play an integral role in supporting Engineering and IT leadership with financial analysis to inform strategic decisions impacting the organization's technology investments and operational efficiency. This individual will be responsible for a variety of FP&A functions specific to Engineering and IT OPEX, including budget management for technology-related expenses (such as software, infrastructure, and personnel), building and maintaining financial models for resource planning, supporting engineering and IT planning and forecasting cycles, and delivering detailed monthly variance analysis. This role will report to the Senior Manager of Financial Planning and Analysis and will provide frequent exposure to senior leadership across Engineering and IT functions. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced, highly technical environment, demonstrates strong attention to detail, and consistently performs under pressure while managing complex and evolving cost structures

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Partner closely with Engineering, IT, and cross-functional teams to ensure accurate financial reporting, cost center alignment, and disciplined spend management
  • Evaluate financial performance by comparing and analyzing actual results with budget and rolling forecasts
  • Produce monthly reporting packages including key metrics, financial results, and detailed variance analysis across OPEX and CAPEX, while actively tracking and driving progress against OPEX targets
  • Identify and drive process improvements, including the creation of standard / ad-hoc reports and Excel/Power BI dashboards
  • Support annual budgeting and quarterly forecasting processes for Engineering and IT, ensuring alignment with cost center owners and organizational priorities
  • Support the development of executive-level presentations, translating complex financial data into clear insights for Engineering and IT leadership
  • Ad hoc / special projects as assigned to support FP&A team

Minimum Qualifications

  • 2-3+ years of business finance or other relevant experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting/Finance/Economics or closely related field
  • High proficiency in financial modeling techniques, reporting, and the ability to analyze financial statements effectively
  • Strong fluency with Excel formulas and functions
  • Strong analytical and data gathering skills
  • Good business acumen

Preferred Qualifications

  • MBA/Masters preferred
  • Prior experience in FP&A or a similar role
  • Manufacturing/Automotive background
  • Experience developing interactive POWER BI dashboards
  • Some experience with SAP & Data Warehouse
