Ever-Green Energy is looking for a Heavy Equipment Maintenance Mechanic responsible for the maintenance and repair of all Environmental Wood Supply (EWS) equipment, helping to ensure reliable operation of equipment. Works with the Biomass Fuel Site Supervisor, determine equipment operating cycles, monitor equipment performance and determine when equipment can be taken out of service to perform routine preventative maintenance items. With input and assistance of equipment operators, troubleshoots, diagnoses, determines root causes of failures, and performs corrective maintenance on machines as necessary. Works closely with EWS Administrator, vendors, and in the supply chain to procure all necessary materials for stock inventory and maintenance repairs.

Minimum requirements to be successful in this role:

  • Formal education or training with certification in the area(s) of machine and industrial equipment repair, maintenance, diesel engines, and welding.
  • Minimum of High School graduate or equivalent.
  • At least 3-years of experience performing maintenance on large industrial equipment and diesel engines or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • In addition to the skills necessary to perform the essential duties and responsibilities, must be to operate and maintain equipment in a safe and responsible manner.
  • Able to prioritize work and work in an efficient and timely manner while using good decision-making skills.
  • Able to read and follow basic electrical and mechanical schematics.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills, be able to effectively assign and oversee work assignments, and work well in a team-setting.
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record is required.

Preferred requirements:

  • Knowledge of truck and equipment repair or additional training is a plus.
  • Experience in hydraulics, electrical circuitry troubleshooting, and fabrication is a plus.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Develops, maintains, and performs a schedule of routine preventative maintenance items to all EWS equipment
  1. Troubleshoot, diagnose, assist in root cause identification, assist in determining proper course of action, identify and procure all necessary parts and materials for repairs, and perform repairs for all EWS equipment.
  • Equipment and types of repairs include, but are not limited to: engines, motors, conveyors systems, computer-controlled systems, welding activities, hydraulics, belt tensioning and adjustments, fluid changes, compressors, A/C units, radiators, rebuilds, bearing replacements, and others.
  1. Perform vendor management activities, including but not limited to: scheduling corrective and warranty repairs, diagnosing issues, determining proper maintenance standards, identifying and procuring repair materials and parts, and others.
  1. Update, maintain, and review all equipment maintenance logs. Utilize these logs to help determine future planned maintenance activities on equipment, and assessing long-term performance of equipment.
  1. Responsible for maintaining the maintenance shop area in a clean, orderly, and functional fashion.
  1. Responsible for maintaining stock inventory of routine parts, materials, and tools. Performs routine inventory of supplies and materials, and works with EWS Administrator to maintain stock.
  1. Inform and provide recommendations Biomass Fuel Site Supervisor to determine long-term equipment needs, capital repairs, and needed expenditures to maintain equipment so they can be accounted for in budgets.
  1. As training and qualification allow, assist in production activities by performing loading or grinding operations, as needed.

The employee is frequently required to climbing ramps/stairs; crouching; foot/leg controls; lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs.; near vision acuity with clarity of vision at approximately 20 inches or less; peripheral vision by observing an area that can be seen up and down or to right or left while eyes are fixed on a given point; pushing; pulling; reaching at/below shoulder level by extending had and arms from 0 up to 150 degrees in a vertical arc; reaching overhead by extending hands and arms in a 150 to 180 degrees vertical arc; and stooping.

The employee is occasionally required to climbing ladders and scaffolding; crawling; fine manipulation by picking, pinching; or otherwise working primarily with fingers rather than the whole hand or arm as in gross manipulation; keyboarding; kneeling; and sitting.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to vibration. May work outside in all weather conditions. The noise level is often high due to use of various equipment. Appropriate PPE will be provided as needed.

We are committed to providing salary ranges for all open positions. Please note that the specific compensation for this role will be determined based on your experience, qualifications, location, and internal equity considerations.

The hourly range for this position is: $33.04 to $37.17.

This range reflects the base salary for this position.
