We are looking for a Tool Crib Attendant to join our Rhinelander, WI Team!
The Tool Crib Attendant is responsible for maintaining organization, inventory control, and daily operation of the tool crib to support manufacturing operations. This position ensures tooling, consumables, and related equipment are available, properly maintained, and issued efficiently to production personnel. The role supports safe work practices, inventory accuracy, tooling readiness, and continuous production flow.
MAJOR DUTIES
- Promote and follow all workplace safety policies and procedures.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient tool crib area.
- Issue, track, and receive tooling, consumables, and related equipment.
- Maintain accurate records of tool withdrawals, returns, repairs, sharpening, and inventory transactions.
- Monitor inventory levels and replenish stock to maintain required minimum quantities.
- Order tooling and consumables as needed while supporting departmental budget requirements.
- Record invoices and maintain monthly budget tracking documentation.
- Coordinate with vendors regarding tooling products, pricing, repairs, and sharpening services.
- Inspect tooling condition and arrange for repair, sharpening, or replacement when necessary.
- Collect and sort tooling from manufacturing work centers for return, maintenance, or sharpening.
- Operate and maintain tooling setup equipment, including the Kelch pre-setter.
- Coordinate with the Machine Coordinator to support production schedules and tooling readiness.
- Assemble and pre-set tooling packages according to machine schedules and setup requirements.
- Disassemble tooling from completed production jobs and return reusable components to inventory.
- Collaborate with Programming and Manufacturing teams to maintain accurate setup documentation.
- Organize and file completed setup sheets and tooling records.
- Support continuous improvement efforts related to tooling organization, inventory accuracy, and manufacturing efficiency.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum of 5 years of machining, tooling, or manufacturing support experience preferred.
- Working knowledge of cutting tools, tool holders, inserts, and machining consumables.
- Experience with inventory control and tooling management systems preferred.
- Ability to read and understand setup sheets, tooling documentation, and manufacturing schedules.
- Experience using a tool pre-setter, such as a Kelch pre-setter, preferred.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to communicate effectively with production personnel, vendors, and support departments.
- Basic computer and recordkeeping skills required
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 60 pounds.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods throughout the shift.
- Frequent bending, reaching, and handling of tooling and materials.
- Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to noise, oils, and moving equipment.
