Posting Summary
The Center for Advanced Energy Systems is seeking a Post-Doc Associate.

CAES currently operates as the Field Managers for the Department of Energy Industrial Training and AssessmentCenter ( ITAC) Program. The Field Manager works directly with the ITAC Program Manager at DOE while focusing on program quality assurance. As the Field Manager, CAES supervises all the institute of higher education ( IHE) centers in the program and serves as a liaison between the ITACs and DOE. The program provides no-cost energy assessments to small and medium sized manufacturing plants in the US and has been operating for over 30 years.

The Post Doc is an integral member of CAES. The Post Doc Associate reports to the Center Director and plays a critical role to the internal functions of the office but is also outward facing
through direct contact with ITAC Directors and Faculty. The Post Doc Associate manages a variety of projects and opportunities to support CAES initiatives. This person will direct all student innovations currently conducted by the center.

Research Lead and Publishing Papers

  • Coordinate, assist, and supervise CAES ITAC research to support new program features and
  • publications
  • Coordinate CAES ITAC innovations to support new program features and publications, including both graduate and undergraduate research opportunities
  • Provide technical training in relevant tools, software, and experimental or analytical methods


Grant Support and Opportunities

  • Supporting the success of the ITAC implementation grants program
  • Work with the DOE program team to maximize the reach and success of the Implementation grants program
  • Ensure the Centers are reaching out to their previous and new clients to inform them of the grant opportunity and how to get more information.
  • Collect and synthesize feedback from the Centers and their clients on how to improve the program.

Supervised Student Research

  • Guide students through the full research lifecycle, including problem formulation, methodology design, data collection, analysis, and interpretation
  • Oversee student deliverables such as papers and publications to ensure quality and rigor

Qualifications






Minimum Education and Experience
Ph.D. Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Energy Systems Engineering (or similar degree) or equivalent experience

  • Experience performing and leading university research programs
  • Experience publishing and/or co-authoring papers
  • Experience working with students in a university setting to coordinate research
  • Familiarity with the ITAC program or Department of Energy funded programs and grants

Certifications/Licenses
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Ph.D. Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Energy Systems Engineering (or similar degree) or equivalent experience
