I. JOB OVERVIEW






Job Description Summary:

Response Coordinator play a critical role in a coordinated community response to discrimination and harassment based on protected characteristics, including sexual assault, dating and domestic violence, and stalking. The position's primary role is to support GW faculty, staff, and students by initiating outreach to Complainants, Respondents, and third parties following a report discrimination and harassment and to facilitate supportive measures for those impacted by these incidents. In addition, Response Coordinator facilitate reasonable modifications for students experiencing pregnancy or related conditions. Response Coordinator will directly report to the Director of Response and Prevention.
JOB DUTIES



  • Initiates outreach to community members who are impacted by discrimination and harassment including sexual assault, dating violence, domestic violence, and stalking
  • Meets with community members to gather preliminary facts underlying incidents, explain resolution processes offered through the Equal Opportunity Office, the availability of supportive measures, evidence preservation, and safety planning,
  • Determines, in consultation with the Director of Response and Prevention and EO Coordinator, whether there is an immediate threat or safety concern for any individual and/or the campus community that should be escalated to the Behavioral Intervention Team (BIT), the Threat Assessment Team (TAT), and/or whether other immediate action should be taken;
  • Describes complex resolution processes in detail and has the ability to answer questions pertaining to them;
  • Provides free referrals to on campus and community resources for healthcare, counseling, and other crisis management services;
  • Files timely and anonymous reports with the Division of Safety & Operations pursuant to the Jeanne Clery Campus Safety Act
  • Collaborates with students, faculty, and staff to develop individualized safety plans to ensure the well-being of all parties involved in an incident;
  • Provide trauma-informed support for Complainants, Respondents, and third parties while upholding core values related to compassion, impartiality, and fairness for all involved in the process;
  • Ensures that all reports and supportive measures are thoroughly documented within the Office for Equal Opportunity's case management system, Maxient
  • Leads training and orientation programming for GW staff, faculty, and students related to discrimination and harassment based on a protected characteristic, including sexual assault, dating and domestic violence, and stalking.

Minimum Qualifications:
Qualified candidates will hold a Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area of specialization. Degree must be conferred by the start date of the position. Degree requirements may be substituted with an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to work to support complainants, respondents, and third parties fairly, compassionately, and impartially;
  • Experience using a case management system, such as Maxient
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain privacy and act with discretion
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Prior experience as a counselor and trainer.

  • LCSW or equivalent.
  • Familiarity with violence prevention, counseling, and advocacy services offered within a university context.
  • Prior experience working in higher education is preferred but not required


Hiring Range $47,073.26-$68,904.00
