Position Summary
The Assistant Director of Assessment will assist with the day-to-day clinical and operational functioning of the psychological assessment program, ensuring efficient service delivery and high-quality student care. The Assistant Director will assist the Associate Director for Assessment in achieving the goal of integrating assessment services as a service offering at the CC and in participating in other UIC efforts to coordinate and expand testing resources for UIC students. This role plays a vital part in enhancing clinical services, supporting student success, and advancing the university's mission by integrating data-informed practices.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Provide direct administration of psychological, neuropsychological, and psychoeducational tests, compilation of timely and professionally written assessment reports, and provide feedback sessions.
  • Supervise and train unlicensed clinical staff, post-docs, and pre-doctoral trainees about assessment, evaluations, outreach, and treatment of Counseling Center clients.
  • Assist with the coordination of assessment scheduling, test administration workflows, and turnaround times.
  • Assist with managing testing materials, software, and record-keeping systems.
  • Assist in training staff on test administration, scoring, and interpretation.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of recruitment activities, selection, and staff involvement for a diagnostic practicum, in coordination with the Associate Director for Training.
  • Assist with the creation and implementation of orientation, schedules, trainee evaluation processes and forms, seminars, and policies and procedures for a diagnostic assessment, in coordination with the Associate Director for Training.
  • Provision of training and supervision to trainees on their diagnostic assessments, associated reports, and feedback sessions.
  • Conduct trainee evaluations and provide feedback to their respective academic programs.
  • Collect and assess training data and prepare evaluation reports.
  • Maintain ethical, legal, and organizational standards and build competency in diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging in all training, service, and research activities within the Counseling Center, Division of Student Affairs, and the UIC community.
  • Assist in creating training policies and procedures that are inclusive of UIC's highly diverse student population, reflecting the mission and vision of the Counseling Center.
  • Conduct psychological counseling, including provision of direct assessment, crisis intervention, and case management services for students' personal, social, vocational, and/or educational concerns consistent with Center policies and procedures.
  • Provide consultation and refer students and their family members, staff, and faculty, as appropriate for mental health, medically based, or adjunctive services within the university or the community.
  • Utilize and contribute to research/data collection for the improvement of student functioning, and evaluation of the Center's training programs and service.
  • Provide educational/developmental outreach programming for students and the university community to improve coping and problem-solving strategies and to contribute to a supportive and enhancing learning environment.
  • Position requires occasional evening hours and weekend duties; NO after-hours on-call responsibilities.

  • Minimum Qualifications

    • A doctorate in counseling psychology, clinical psychology, or a related field is required.
    • Licensed to practice psychology as a Clinical Psychologist in the State of Illinois or licensed to practice psychology as a Clinical Psychologist in another state with reciprocity to Illinois (will be required to have an IL license within six months of hire).
    • Considerable experience conducting psychological assessments with young adults and/or college students.
    • Experience in the provision of direct clinical supervision of doctoral-level graduate students for a minimum of one year.
    • Demonstrated experience and ability to work as part of a highly cohesive and interdisciplinary team.
    • Experience with and commitment to working with clients from diverse backgrounds.


    Preferred Qualifications
    • Experience in the provision of direct clinical supervision of doctoral-level graduate students for at least one year.
    • Training and experience providing psychological services to graduate, professional, and undergraduate students, which includes providing services to persons of color, international students, non-traditional students, veterans, students with disabilities, and LGBTQA+ students, is desirable.
    • Strong organizational and administrative skills.
    • Demonstrated experience and facility with an electronic records management system, databases, and other technology to aid in the provision of clinical services and administration.
