Job Description

SUMMARY:


The Lead Engineer - Microsoft 365, SQL & Power Platform is responsible for the engineering leadership, delivery, and operational maturity of the bank's core collaboration, reporting, and data platform services. This role leads a team of 3-4 engineers while remaining hands-on with complex technical initiatives, escalations, and platform improvements.



Primary focus areas include Microsoft 365 workloads, Power BI and Power Platform enablement, and SQL Server platform support. The role blends technical leadership, ticket escalation, and crossfunctional collaboration to ensure secure, reliable, and scalable platforms in a regulated financial services environment.



SUPERVISOR RESPONSIBILITES:

Technical Leadership & Team Development


Leads, coaches, and mentors a team of 3-4 platform engineers.


Provides hands-on technical leadership and set engineering standards and best practices.


Acts as a senior escalation point for complex technical issues.


Partners closely with architecture, data, infrastructure, and application teams.


Contributes to platform roadmaps and drive continuous improvement initiatives.



Microsoft 365 Engineering


Leads engineering and operational support for:


Exchange Online


SharePoint Online


Microsoft Teams


OneDrive for Business


Entra ID (Azure AD), including hybrid identity


Oversees tenant governance, lifecycle management, configuration standards, and feature adoption.


Ensures collaboration services are secure, resilient, and aligned with organizational risk posture.


Partners with security and compliance teams on identity, access, and data protection controls.



Power BI & Power Platform Enablement


Provides technical leadership for enterprise Power BI deployments.


Supports and optimizes:


Capacity planning and performance management


Dataset refresh processes and data model optimization


Workspace design, usage monitoring, and governance standards


Partners with data and business teams to enable scalable, self-service analytics.


Exposures to Power Apps and Power Automate solutions is preferred.



SQL Platform Responsibilities


Serves as platform lead for SQL Server environments supporting reporting, analytics, and collaboration solutions.


Partners with DBAs and infrastructure teams on:


Availability, performance, and capacity planning


Backup, recovery, and resiliency strategies


Platform lifecycle management and modernization initiatives


Supports SQL integrations with Power BI and other enterprise reporting tools.



Operations & Platform Excellence


Acts as a senior escalation point for platform-level incidents and service disruptions.


Participates in incident response, root cause analysis, and post-incident reviews.


Maintains platform documentation, operational procedures, and engineering standards.


Supports audits, risk assessments, and control requirements at the platform governance level.



OTHER REQUIREMENTS:


Banking is a highly regulated industry and you will be expected to acquire and maintain a proficiency in the bank's policies and procedures, and adhere to all laws, rules and regulations that are applicable to your conduct and the work you will be performing. You will also be expected to complete all assigned compliance training in a timely manner.


Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate across technical and business teams.


Strong understanding of Azure concepts: compute, storage, networking, IAM, policies, resource groups.


Familiarity with AWS fundamentals, including EC2, S3, IAM, VPC.


Handson experience creating InfrastructureasCode.


Basic experience with ARM or Bicep templates.


Proficiency in PowerShell and/or Python.


Understanding of CI/CD concepts and tools (Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, or similar).


Familiarity with container technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.


Understanding of cloud security architecture, identity and access management, and network security principles.


Strong communication and analytical thinking.


Ability to work in collaborative, crossfunctional teams.


Willingness to learn and grow within a regulated financial environment.


Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft 365 services, Power BI, and SQL Server.


Working knowledge of Entra ID / Azure AD, identity, and access controls.


Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate: Office 365, preferred.


Microsoft 365 Security Administration, preferred.


Managing Office 365 Identities and Requirements, preferred.


Enabling Office 365 Services, preferred.


Microsoft Certified Professional, preferred.


MCSE: Productivity Solutions Expert, preferred.


Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert: Cloud Platform and Infrastructure, preferred.


Microsoft Specialist: Implementing Microsoft Azure Infrastructure Solutions, preferred.


Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert: Cloud Platform and Infrastructure Charter Member, preferred.


Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert: Server Infrastructure, preferred.


Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft 365 services, Power BI, and SQL Server.


Working knowledge of Entra ID / Azure AD, identity, and access controls.



ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:


The wage range for the Lead Engineer - Productivity Platforms position is $110,000 - $135,000 annually. The position includes 22 days of PTO (Paid Time Off), 5 days of STD (Short Term Disability), 11 annual paid holidays, and 1 float holiday.
