Description Job Title: Senior Design Hardware Engineer Location: Leander, TX Employment Type: FullTime Industry: Aerospace / Space & Defense Technology Compensation: 135K-150k annually DOE Schedule: Monday-Friday, standard business hours About the Opportunity Firefly Aerospace is seeking a Senior Avionics Electrical Engineer to join its growing avionics team. This role will leverage deep electrical engineering expertise to develop, design, integrate, test, and qualify electrical components for launch vehicles and spacecraft systems. In this position, you will take ownership of designs and requirements definition while actively participating in integration, testing, and qualification throughout the hardware development lifecycle. What You'll Do Develop new features and functionality as part of the design team for Firefly's common avionics platform used across launch vehicles and spacecraft Participate in technical trade studies, requirement capture, and conceptual and detailed design activities Create and own schematic capture and PCB layout activities, including rapid prototyping and EEE component selection Execute electrical simulations and analyses to support flight, qualification, and test laboratory PCB assemblies Collaborate with crossfunctional teams including systems, mechanical, software, and test engineering to develop tightly integrated, highperformance hardware Apply aerospace guidelines and standards for the development and design of electronic assemblies Job Requirements What You'll Bring Bachelor of Science (BS) in Electrical Engineering 5+ years of experience in PCB design, hardware systems design, and/or integration 5+ years of experience in schematic capture and PCB layout (digital, analog, and/or power circuits) 5+ years of experience performing circuit design activities, including requirements definition, block diagram development, component selection, and circuit simulation 3+ years of experience performing electrical troubleshooting and rootcause analysis on hardware systems 3+ years of experience using electrical test equipment (e.g., oscilloscopes, multimeters, power supplies, signal generators) to verify component and circuit functionality What Sets You Apart Experience developing and testing complex electronic systems that include hardware, firmware, and software integration Experience supporting spacecraft avionics systems across design, development, production, test, or operations Experience using Altium or similar PCB design tools for complex board development Experience working within structured design methodologies such as Vmodel development Knowledge of space radiation environments and their effects on electronic components Experience working with a variety of sensor technologies and associated analog and digital interfaces Familiarity with NASA GEVS or SMC016 environmental testing standards Experience working with external vendors or contract manufacturers Demonstrated ability to manage multiple concurrent tasks in a fastpaced environment Additional Information: After you apply, you may receive a call or message from our AI Talent Scout about this role or other opportunities that match your skills and preferences.
