THE POSITION

The Department of Corrections is searching for an energetic and motivated Corrections Facility Maintenance Manager to help lead maintenance efforts at the State Correctional Institution (SCI) at Phoenix. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position plays an important role in supporting maintenance operations and guiding staff at SCI Phoenix. It involves supervising work activities, reviewing procedures, and ensuring tasks are completed safely and correctly. As a Corrections Facility Maintenance Manager 1, you will perform the following duties:

  • Daily Operations: Plan, assign, and coordinate routine maintenance and construction tasks
  • Staff Supervision: Provide training, guidance, and oversight to maintenance and trades staff
  • Reports And Records: Prepare and manage required reports, inventories, and departmental documents
  • Budget Coordination: Develop budget requests and manage overtime and resource allocations
  • Safety Compliance: Inspect work areas, monitor safety practices, and respond to emergencies when needed
  • Security Measures: Search inmates and work sites and ensure proper control of tools and materials

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, 40-hour work week
  • Work hours are 6:30 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • This position is eligible for full retirement benefits at age 50 or 55.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Two years of experience as a Building Maintenance Foreman, Utility Plant Supervisor, or Corrections Tradesman Instructor (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration) with a specialty in one of the trades of Carpentry, Electrical, Refrigeration, Plumbing, Sheet Metal, Machinist, Welding, Painting, Automotive, Electronics, or Masonry; or
  • Six years of experience in the construction, maintenance or repair of buildings; or the operation, maintenance and repair of utility services equipment, including two years in a managerial or supervisory capacity; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training.

Other Requirements:

  • Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
