Job Summary

The Trauma Services Intern will support the trauma program by assisting with various administrative, educational, and quality improvement activities. This internship provides an opportunity to gain insight into trauma systems, performance improvement processes, injury prevention initiatives, and healthcare operations in a hospital setting.

Essential Functions
  • Assist with data entry, chart review, and documentation audits

  • Support trauma performance improvement initiatives by gathering and organizing case data

  • Help prepare educational materials for staff training or community outreach

  • Attend trauma meetings, drills, and educational sessions as appropriate

  • Assist in organizing injury prevention events or campaigns

  • Maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the trauma team

  • Maintains accountability for completing support tasks as directed.

  • Maintains clear and appropriate documentation of actions taken.

  • May analyzes department processes and other Corewell Health systems encountered and makes recommendations improvements, as appropriate. Participates in quality monitoring activities/process improvement activities.

  • Communicates, collaborates, and acts as a team player with others in order to ensure continuity and coordination of services.

Qualifications

Preferred

  • High School Diploma or equivalent. Currently enrolled in high school or have graduated from high school, or are enrolled in a university pursuing an Associate's or Bachelor's degree in the area of accountability. May also be a recent graduate from an Associate's or Bachelor's degree program.

  • Interest in trauma, emergency medicine, public health, general medicine, or hospital administration

  • Strong organizational and communication skills

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
