What to Expect
The Studio Integration team at Tesla is central to engineering new products and bringing concepts to life. We collaborate across all aspects of styling, engineering, and manufacturing to deliver exceptional product designs and customer experiences. The team is involved from the earliest stages of development to establish the product architecture and layout, considering attributes like styling, cost, mass, manufacturability, performance, service, NVH, reliability, and more. This work aligns with Tesla's mission to accelerate the world's transition to sustainable energy and usher in an age of amazing abundance through innovative products that will change the world. In this role, you will focus specifically on robotics programs, such as Tesla Optimus, within the broader studio integration efforts.

What You'll Do
  • Mechanical design and packaging of components to meet product and system level requirements while optimizing robotics attributes
  • Lead product integration reviews, mediate trade-off situations to ensure design solutions are aligned with styling, engineering, and manufacturing targets
  • Lead packaging master section development supporting Class A surface development and product integration feasibility for robotic systems
  • Support and execute virtual builds, development bucks, physical prototypes, and pre-series production for product prototypes
  • Manage CAD and surface maturity for the program, highlighting gaps that could lead to product development delays, while using best practices for ensuring completeness and compatibility, and supporting the release process
  • Consolidate and document styling, engineering, manufacturing, and other criteria
  • Use engineering first principles to identify and propose solutions to complex cross-functional problems
  • Coordinate the timing and prioritization of issue resolution and feasibility convergence to meet product development timelines
  • Build positive team culture and maintain strong relationships with cross-functional teams

What You'll Bring
  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent experience
  • Experience in robotics integration and packaging, with a focus on full product lifecycle from concept through production
  • Strong mechanical engineering fundamentals and a robust first-principles approach
  • Extensive understanding of design principles supporting functional robotic systems
  • Knowledge of part manufacturing processes, from circuit boards to large castings, including those relevant to robotics
  • Outstanding design, packaging, and 3D modeling skills, with CATIA/3DX experience as an advantage
  • Proven problem-solving, strong communication, and exceptional leadership skills with decision-making abilities
