POSITION SCOPE

The Hot plant Laborer is a safety sensitive position responsible for general laborer duties at the operation and perform tasks involving physical labor for Asphalt production facility. The job duties of a general laborer vary. They may include cleaning and preparing a jobsite, Lubrication of machinery, loading and delivering materials, and using a variety of tools and machines such as blowtorches, Skid steers, forklifts, levels, lifts, power drills, grinders, saws, pressure washers, and water spraying equipment.

PRIMARY DUTIES



  • Laboring (shoveling, keeping area and Connex's clean)
  • Operating; Skid Steer, Manual Transmission Dump truck (in yard only)
  • Servicing Plant; Greasing Bearings, filling gearboxes & oilers, oiling chain drives
  • Opening & closing AC valves, taking tank product measurements
  • Looking for possible problems and reporting or solving them (EYES & EARS of the Operator
  • Perform other duties as assigned and assist other craft workers



REQUIREMENTS



  • Applicants must be at least 18 years old
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Knowledge of conveyor belts, scalpers (shakers), and gearboxes is helpful
  • Equipment like Skid Steer, Forklift and Manlift is helpful
  • Mechanical knowledge: How to use hand tools, (wrenches, rachets, bars and hammers, ETC...) Required
  • Welding; Stick Welder and Oxy. / Acetylene torch is helpful
  • Mechanical schooling is preferred but will do additional training
  • Willing to work in a team environment
  • General knowledge of hot mix asphalt business and operations
  • Basic computer skills and strong communication skills
