As a Claim Operations Specialist, you'll play a vital role in protecting members and the credit union by managing fraud, dispute, and claim closeouts with accuracy, compliance, and care. Your work directly supports member trust, financial integrity, and operational risk mitigation. What You'll Do (Your Impact)
- Evaluate, investigate, and resolve debit and credit card fraud and dispute claims in accordance with regulatory requirements and credit union guidelines.
- Communicate proactively with members, processors, and internal teams to provide clear updates on claim status, timelines, and next steps.
- Ensure all claim-related documentation, account adjustments, and communications are accurate, timely, and compliant.
- Reconcile general ledger and processor activity, researching and correcting discrepancies to ensure clean balancing and audit readiness.
- Complete bond claim reporting accurately and within established timelines.
- Handle complex or sensitive member interactions with empathy, professionalism, and confidentiality.
- Collaborate with internal departments to obtain additional documentation and support timely claim resolution.
- Adhere to all applicable regulations, including Visa Rules, Regulation E, BSA, OFAC, and USA Patriot Act/CIP requirements.
What You Bring
- Minimum of one year of experience in fraud and dispute processing or two years of equivalent experience in banking or financial services.
- Associate degree or equivalent related work experience.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex information clearly.
- Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and resolve problems using sound judgment.
- High attention to detail with strong analytical and decision-making skills.
- Experience handling sensitive conversations with professionalism and empathy.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and intermediate Excel; general ledger or accounting experience preferred.
- Working knowledge of relevant regulations and Visa core rules preferred.

Additional Details Physical Demands While performing the duties of this position, the employee is required to sit, stand, walk, and use hands and fingers. The employee may occasionally reach above and below shoulder level and lift, push, pull, and/or carry up to 10 pounds. Environmental/Working Conditions Work is performed in a typical administrative setting with climate control and appropriate lighting. Travel to branches may require exposure to outdoor and traffic conditions. Equipment Used A variety of office equipment, including telephone, printer, PC, and mobile devices.
