At First Mid, base salary is one component of our Total Rewards program. Exact compensation is determined by factors such as (but not limited to) education, skills, internal equity, and experience. This position offers additional compensation in the form of discretionary short-term incentives (i.e. bonus, incentives, and/or commission). The Commercial Loan Servicing Analyst is responsible for advanced loan servicing support, complex transaction processing, reconciliation activities, exception resolution, and operational analysis within the Commercial and Consumer Lending areas. The ideal candidate will have experience in commercial loan operations, accounting, finance, banking operations, reconciliations, or servicing support and possess the ability to research, resolve, and analyze complex financial transactions and system exceptions.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Serve as a subject matter expert and escalation point for complex loan servicing issues involving commercial and consumer lending portfolios.
- Identifies, researches and resolves complex issues that do not have established guidelines. Works with core vendor to determine solutions. Shares knowledge of resolution with the staff to further their loan servicing knowledge.
- Processes advanced system transaction including non-accrual loans, charge-off loans, repossessed collateral and complex account corrections. Ensures proper approval has been obtained for these transactions.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement, workflow automation, and operational efficiencies within loan servicing functions.
- Maintain flood insurance compliance and monitor force-placed insurance activity to mitigate potential risk exposure.
- Provides backup to the Loan Servicing Managers
- Collaborate with internal departments, branches, loan officers, and third-party vendors to research and resolve servicing and operational issues.
- Perform monthly balancing and reconciliation activities for ACH, Credit Life, Dealer Reserve, and Cashier's Check accounts, while supporting dual control review processes and audit readiness requirements.
- Research and process complex payment reversals related to returned checks and ACH transactions, ensuring accuracy and compliance with operational procedures.
- Manage participation loan servicing activities including processing payments and advances from lead banks, reconciling balances, validating rate information, and resolving discrepancies.
- Provide mentoring, cross-training, and operational guidance to loan servicing team members.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education/Experience:
- Associates Degree in Finance, Accounting or related field of study or 3+ years of bank experience is preferred
- Commercial Loan Operation or lending knowledge preferred.
Skills:
- Experience with balancing accounts, general ledger support, or operational accounting functions
- Ability to research and resolve complex financial discrepancies
- Strong accounting, reconciliation, and analytical skills
