Overview

LMI is actively seeking a Mid-Level Software Engineer to support the USPS Engineering Technology Programs team. This position is on-site in Merrifield, VA.

Responsibilities

    Designs, modifies, develops, writes, and implements software programming applications.
  • Familiar with SDLC (Software Development Life Cycle), designs, plans, and coordinates work teams.
  • Supports and/or installs software applications/operating systems.
  • Provides technical support to project team members.
  • A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected for fast-paced R&D environments.
  • Typically reports to the team lead of the development group.
  • Communicates effectively with team members and stakeholders to ensure clear understanding of project requirements.


Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor's Degree, preferably in area of specialty
  • 8+ years of experience in the field or in a related area
  • Proven experience in web development.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft C# programming language with .Net platform.
  • Familiarity on web application, and web services (must be familiar with XML and JSON) design.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Visual Studio IDE with source control software TFS (Team Foundation Server).
  • Familiarity with C#.Net database interface design, and SQL commands.
  • Experienced in C# WinForm with Kiosk software design.
  • Experienced in web application, and web services (must be familiar with XML and JSON) design.
  • Experienced in C# multi-threading programming design.
  • Experienced in Microsoft Team Foundation Server (TFS) for source control.
  • Must work with system interfaces including, but not limited to, Kafka and APIs to enable seamless data exchange.
  • Must be familiar with Microsoft Web Forms design and development.
  • Must be familiar with designing and developing REST API in .NET.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment background check & drug test as part of obtaining a Public Trust

Preferred

  • Familiar with Microsoft Entity Framework is a plus.
  • Familiar with Microsoft Windows system, e.g. Win10, Windows Servers is a plus.
  • Familiar with Windows Presentation Foundation (WPF) is a plus.
  • Familiar with UI interface design technologies is a plus (eg, speech recognition, text to speech).
  • Understanding of UI/UX principles and best practices.
  • Familiar with section 508 compliant UI design is a plus.
  • Knowledge of other programming languages is a plus.
  • Hardware driver development experience is a plus.
  • Ability to demonstrate current work/portfolio is a plus.
  • Familiarity with Oracle is a plus.

Target Salary Range: $75,000 - $95,000
