What to Expect

Tesla is looking to hire a Manufacturing Engineering Technician to contribute to the development and deployment of specialized processes and equipment for our cutting-edge Battery products. Battery development is at the heart of our company, and this is an exciting opportunity to work directly on the central challenges with electric vehicles - battery cost and performance. Tesla is a demanding and fast-paced environment where you will work with a highly motivated team on extremely challenging projects.


What You'll Do
  • Regularly collaborate with Design and Manufacturing engineers
  • Support development and optimization of manufacturing processes, quality controls and equipment specifications
  • Support the installation and commissioning of electromechanical equipment
  • Help develop training material, and train key personnel
  • Support process and equipment validation, utilizing metrology, destructive, and non-destructive testing
  • Help develop test criteria and collaborate on test fixture designs
  • Maintain & pursue development equipment and facilities that are on the forefront of battery manufacturing technologies

What You'll Bring
  • 2+ years' work experience in a similar technical role
  • Able to travel up to 30% in role
  • Experience in high-volume manufacturing, transitioning complex products from prototype to production
  • Proficient with hand-tools and fixture assembly
  • Capability and willingness to traveldomestically and internationally
  • Experience in creating documentation and technical reports
  • Understanding of electronic circuits and systems, conductors, isolators, dielectric materials, is a plus
  • Experience with or exposure to CAD software 2D (AutoCAD) and 3D (SolidWorks, CATIA) CAD is a plus
  • Experience with conventional machining and other fabrication processes, 3D printing experience is a plus
