The Department of Surgery, Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery at the University of Washington invites applications for a faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor, without tenure (WOT), by reason of funding with an anticipated start date of August 2026. We seek applicants who demonstrate commitment to excellence in research, teaching and service in a diverse and inclusive academic community. The successful candidate will join our faculty on a full-time basis for a twelve-month appointment, 3-year term, renewable, beginning August 2026. The base salary range for this position will be: $41,677 - $46,250 per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination. The successful candidate will be expected to participate in heart and lung transplantation and ventricular assist device implantation. In addition, this position will perform general cardiac surgery procedures as part of the Section of Cardiac Surgery and will be expected to take in an equitable share of call responsibilities. The primary site of practice for this position is the University of Washington Medical Center-(UWMC) Montlake campus. Patient care may also be provided at or coordinated with Harborview Medical Center, UWMC-Northwest campus, and the Veterans Affairs Puget Sound Health Care System. The cardiac surgeon will also be responsible for teaching and training of residents, fellows and medical students, as well as participation in quality metrics, clinical and/or basic science research.
