Job Overview

This role manages manufacturing operations projects and processes that have a direct and measurable impact on division results. The role applies advanced knowledge of production, repair, maintenance, and quality control to achieve operational and business targets. It delivers or significantly contributes to projects and programs that improve throughput, cost, safety, and quality across a defined manufacturing scope. the SME serves as a trusted advisor on complex manufacturing issues, guiding others in resolving problems that affect multiple operational areas. This role requires specialized expertise in managing manufacturing operations to drive significant operational and business outcomes.

Accountabilities

1. Manage Manufacturing Operations Projects and Processes
Oversees defined manufacturing projects and processes from planning through execution to meet cost, quality, and service objectives. Coordinates resources, timelines, and cross?functional inputs to ensure operational deliverables are achieved. Monitors progress, resolves issues, and adjusts plans to keep initiatives on track and aligned with division priorities.
2. Optimize Production, Repair, and Maintenance Activities
Analyzes production and maintenance performance to identify bottlenecks, chronic failures, and efficiency gaps. Implements targeted improvements in work methods, schedules, and equipment utilization to stabilize output and reduce unplanned downtime. Partners with maintenance, engineering, and operations teams to ensure changes are embedded into standard practices.
3. Ensure Robust Quality, Safety, and Environmental Compliance
Oversees adherence to manufacturing quality, environmental, and employee health and safety standards within the assigned scope. Reviews audit findings, incident data, and process controls to identify systemic risks and required corrective actions. Coordinates with Quality, EHS, and site leadership to implement sustainable improvements in control plans and operator practices.
4. Provide Advanced Operational Analysis and Recommendations
Conducts advanced analyses of production data, cost drivers, and failure modes to understand root causes of performance gaps. Evaluates alternative solutions and provides clear recommendations to leaders and stakeholders. Ensures that proposed actions balance productivity, cost, safety, and quality impacts across the manufacturing system.
5. Act as Trusted Advisor and Mentor to Operational Teams
Advises supervisors, engineers, and SMEs on complex manufacturing challenges in their areas. Shares best practices, methods, and lessons learned to elevate technical capability and problem?solving across the division. Provides feedback and guidance that help teams align local decisions with broader manufacturing strategies.
