Summary
Responsible for managing and organizing patient medical records and ensuring the accuracy, confidentiality, and accessibility of the information in order to maintain a well-functioning healthcare system and provide efficient patient care. Does this position require Patient Care? No Essential Functions -Oversee the creation, collection, maintenance, and retention of patient medical records. -Develop and implement effective systems for organizing and indexing medical records. -Retrieve medical records as needed for patient care, research, billing, or legal purposes. -Enter patient information into the hospital's electronic health record system, including demographic data, medical history, diagnoses, procedures, and treatment plans. -Strictly adhere to privacy regulations (e.g., Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act - HIPAA) and maintain patient confidentiality. -Review medical records regularly to identify and address any discrepancies or errors. -Process requests for the release of medical records to authorized individuals or organizations while ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements. -Provide training and support to hospital staff regarding medical record documentation best practices, privacy regulations, and proper use of EHR systems.
