Our Defense division in East Aurora, NY is looking for a Sr. Planner/Buyer to join our dynamic team! This Sr. Planner/Buyer has primary scheduling responsibility for multiple areas of the business, including but not limited to Assembly & Test, supporting the Missiles, Land & Sea Systems, and Turreted Weapon Systems business units. This person can expect to perform a blend of strategic and tactical planning and supply chain functions and will be responsible for communication and maintaining relationships with their cross-functional program teams for status updates on component status and kit releases. Additional responsibilities include forming and maintaining relationships with critical suppliers, ownership of status calls, and on-site visits as needed. Source selection, complex data analyses, and tactical leadership are also core functions of the role, while managing multiple priorities to meet business deadlines.

As our Sr. Planner/Buyer, you will make critical contributions by holding responsibility for:

Program Planning and Execution:

  • Analyzing demand inputs to align supply dates with program needs

  • Providing reliable completion and delivery dates to internal stakeholders

  • Collaborating with suppliers, production, and engineering to support component gating and kit releases

  • Leading model status discussions with cross-functional program teams and releasing work orders to production

  • Identifying and implementing mitigation plans for risks associated with long-lead items and single-source suppliers

Strategic Procurement:

  • Forming and executing sourcing strategies for assigned programs

  • Placing and expediting purchase orders; monitoring PO status and delivery dates

  • Negotiating pricing, lead-time, and terms with suppliers to meet program budgets and deadlines

  • Building relationships with critical suppliers and being the main point of contact for all programmatic discussions

  • Managing supplier performance, on-time delivery, and quality metrics

  • Escalating and resolving supplier issues

Inventory & Systems:

  • Providing management report-outs with effective communication

  • Participating in, and leading, tiered meetings

  • Contributing to team development by mentoring junior planners and buyers

  • Supporting master planning with basic forecasting inputs and procurement lead-time updates

  • Leading or participating in cross-functional problem-solving initiatives and continuous improvement activities

To be considered for the Sr. Planner/Buyer role, you will need to bring with you:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Analytics, Engineering, or a related field, and 2+ years experience

~OR~

  • An Associate's degree in Supply Chain, Business, Analytics, Engineering, or a related field, and 4+ years experience

~PLUS~

  • Technical skills:

    • Proficiency in ERP/MRP systems

    • Advanced knowledge of Excel

  • Soft skills:

    • Strong communication and organizational skills

    • Sense of urgency

It would also be ideal if you had the following preferred qualifications:

  • Any advanced degree or professional certifications are a plus

  • Ability to read and interpret complex blueprints and Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T)

  • Experience with Power BI, MBS and/or Kinaxis

Salary Range Transparency:

Buffalo, NY $75,000.00-$95,000.00 Annually

The base salary range represents the low and high end of the Moog salary range for this position in the given work location. Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range(s) listed is just one component of Moog's total compensation package for employees.
