YOUR ROLE: As Sr Research Scientist 1 you would be involved in the scientific leadership of the company, i.e. management, mentoring, consensus building and/or act as technical expert in multiple areas of specialization. Apply scientific leadership to individual R&D Projects. Demonstrate the ability to execute and champion innovative research. Formulate an overall project strategy for experimental design in the context of experimental results and scientific literature.

CORE DUTIES:

1. Design, develop, and validate amplification assays and platform workflows for diverse applications including absolute quantification and rare target detection; troubleshoot complex amplification challenges.

2. Apply AI/ML tools, machine learning algorithms, and advanced data analytics to qPCR, dPCR, NGS and molecular biology datasets to extract biological insights, identify novel assay modalities, and develop predictive models for assay performance optimization.

3. Leverage NGS knowledge to support sequencing-related initiatives and integrate qPCR, dPCR and NGS capabilities within multi-omics workflows.

4. Work independently and collaboratively to create novel product concepts, experimental strategies, and applications for nucleic acid amplification technologies.

5. Collaborate across interdisciplinary teams-including bioinformatics scientists, data science groups, and commercial and product development teams-to accelerate assay innovation and computational integration.

6. Communicate findings effectively through scientific reports, presentations, and cross-functional discussions.

7. Provide scientific mentorship to junior scientists and contribute to building a collaborative, innovative team environment.

1. PhD (or equivalent) in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Genomics, Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, Biostatistics, or a related discipline, with demonstrated ability to bridge experimental and analytical domains.

2. 2-5+ years of postdoctoral or industry experience applying experimental and/or computational approaches to nucleic acid technologies, assay development, or molecular biology research.

3. Demonstrated hands-on expertise in PCR-based technologies (PCR, qPCR, RT-qPCR) and assay design, including experience with multiparametric readouts.

4. Experience with NGS methodologies (DNA and/or RNA sequencing), with demonstrated application preferred.

5. Demonstrated ability to apply computational approaches-such as machine learning, statistical modeling, predictive simulations, or AI-driven analysis-to molecular biology or assay datasets.

6. Strong quantitative and problem-solving skills, with the ability to bridge computational and experimental domains.

7. Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across scientific and commercial teams.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

1. Ability to remain stationary at a laboratory bench or computer for extended periods.

2. Ability to operate and use laboratory equipment, prepare reagents, and assemble experimental systems.

3. Ability to position oneself in low positions (e.g., accessing freezers or lab equipment).

4. Ability to move objects up to 20 pounds.

5. Ability to transport materials between laboratories and buildings.
