Overview

The Cafeteria Attendant is responsible for serving food in the Employee Dining Room in a friendly and customer service oriented manner.



Responsibilities

    Maintain a warm and friendly demeanor at all times.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate both verbally and written, with all level of employees and guests in an attentive, friendly, courteous and service oriented manner.
  • Must be effective at listening to, understanding, and clarifying concerns raised by employees and guests.
  • Must be able to multitask and prioritize departmental functions to meet deadlines.
  • Approach all encounters with guests and employees in an attentive, friendly, courteous and service-oriented manner.
  • Attend all hotel required meetings and trainings.
  • Maintain regular attendance in compliance with Highgate Hotel Standards, as required by scheduling, which will vary according to the needs of the hotel.
  • Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming, which includes wearing the proper uniform and nametag.
  • Comply with Highgate Hotel Standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient hotel operations.
  • Maximize efforts towards productivity, identify problem areas and assist in implementing solutions.
  • Must be effective in handling problems, including anticipating, preventing, identifying and solving problems as necessary.
  • Must be able to cross-train in other hotel related areas.
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality of information.


Qualifications

  • Employees must at all times be attentive, friendly, helpful and courteous to all guests, managers and fellow employees.
  • Making sure serving food portions are accurate.
  • Complete set up of the Employee Dining Room 10 minutes prior to its scheduled opening time.
  • Making sure food is prepared and served according to hotel recipe card and plating guide specifications.
  • Check food temperatures to abide by health department regulations.
  • Maintain clean and sanitary environment with knowledge of proper food handling, storage, and sanitation.
  • Make sure tables and floors are clean at all times.
  • Maintain pars on food, beverages, and supplies.
  • Perform opening and closing procedures and side-work duties according to established checklist.
  • Answer the telephone according to standards.
  • Make sure all food items are stored properly according to health department regulations.
  • Make sure all working areas and equipment are properly cleaned and sanitized.
  • Ensure all heating equipment is turned off at the end of the evening.
  • Set up workstation: Salad bar, hot food, dessert, coffee station, soda fountain, etc.
  • Make sure all equipment is set and has to be ready to open on time.
  • Empties trash on a regular basis.
  • Picks up and transports food from kitchen to cafeteria.
  • Serves meals to personnel in a prompt and pleasant manner.
  • Monitors condition and presentation of entrees. Maintains a sufficient supply of dinnerware and utensils.
  • Returns all leftover foods for proper storage and disposal at the end of each shift.
  • Stores and locks up all food items and equipment at the end of each shift.
  • Assists Executive Chef/Executive Steward in other duties as assigned.
