The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to departmental budgets, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, and training. The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. Position Summary The successful candidate must be familiar with all building systems including vertical transportation, environments, HVAC, electrical, fume hood exhaust, plumbing, BMS, DDC Controls, fire and life safety as well as internal emergency power systems that support administrative classroom spaces. Directs a union workforce in the day-to-day maintenance, repairs and preventive maintenance 'operations for mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems Along with managing the day staff, the incumbent will be responsible for assigning and following up on the evening shift work and staff as well as the scheduling and assigning of the refrigeration engineering team. Candidate will be specifically responsible for field supervision and training the work force as well as providing supervision for outside services or maintenance contracts as assigned. Candidate will be responsible to coordinate and manage system shutdowns.
Candidate must have working knowledge of repairs and preventive maintenance on pumps, conveying systems, piping, heat exchangers,
power transmissions, and other mechanical equipment. Repairs and preventive maintenance to be performed in conformance with
established standards. Assist in formulating preventive maintenance standards, work procedures while performing those duties and provide work order feedback on discrepancies noted in service delivery. In addition, candidate must also hold a valid F58 certificate as a Fire Safety Director. The Fire Safety Director then acts as the liaison with the responding emergency service, EH&S and others if a building emergency occurs. In their absence, the alternates are responsible for carrying out the requirements. If an emergency happens when these members of the department are not available, the most senior employee will have decision-making authority.
