A Brief Overview
The Staff Accountant is responsible for performing daily, monthly, quarterly and annual accounting and reporting functions. As a member of the accounting team, this position is accountable for meeting the deadlines set by management, in-order for the team to meet internal and external reporting commitments to leaders and other stakeholders.

What you will do



  • Prepares and analyzes general ledger account reconciliations.
  • Prepares and posts journal entries.
  • Assists in the preparation of the financial statements.
  • Performs calculations using spreadsheet templates.
  • Prepares monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and other reports.
  • Conducts monthly, quarterly and annual closings.
  • Reviews and provides explanations for actual vs. budget variances.
  • Assists with preparation of annual budgets.
  • Records loan, debt and cash transactions via journal entries into general ledger.
  • Updates and maintains floating rate debt amortization schedules.
  • Prepares and reviews documentation for completeness and legitimacy.
  • Supports basic and complex accounting inquiries.
  • Prepares and gathers support for interim and annual financial statement audits.
  • Responds to independent auditor inquires, as needed.
  • Maintains necessary spreadsheets and reports in compliance with the Company's spreadsheet policy.


Qualifications



  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting from an accredited University Required
  • 1-3 years accounting experience Required
  • General knowledge of chart of accounts, general ledger, trial balance, generally accepted accounting principles, and internal control policies and procedures.
  • Must be detail oriented and able to work within specified deadlines.
  • Ability to identify problems, collect and analyze data and draw logical conclusions.
  • Ability to prioritize, multi-task and meet deadlines.
  • Analytical and detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong computer skills including, proficient in use of Excel and MS Office. Proficient in Microsoft Excel. ReportsNow, and JDEdwards experience a plus.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Requires a detail orientated, independent thinker who is highly motivated and willing to take initiative.
  • Must demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills and interpersonal skills, particularly the ability to communicate effectively with all levels of management and industry professionals.
