Position Overview We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Youth Yoga Instructor to lead an engaging afternoon yoga program for children ages 7-12 at the scenic lakeside setting of Marsh Park in Kirkland. This outdoor program introduces young participants to yoga through movement, meditation, and mindfulness in a fun, supportive, and age-appropriate environment. Key Responsibilities
- Lead daily 2-hour youth yoga sessions for children ages 7-12 June 29-July 2, 12-2pm
- Teach basic yoga poses, breathing techniques, and mindfulness practices
- Create a safe, positive, and inclusive learning environment
- Adapt yoga instruction to different skill levels and abilities
- Ensure participant safety and manage group behavior appropriately
- Arrive early to prepare the outdoor space and necessary materials

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

- Good verbal, written, and telephone communication skills are required.
- Ability to interact courteously with the public to acknowledge both compliments and complaints.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Demonstrated good judgement in problem solving and responding to customer needs.
- Proficiency in standard computer software, such as Microsoft Office Suite applications Word, Excel and Outlook

Qualifications

- Certified Yoga Instructor with experience teaching children
- Background in youth programs, education, recreation, or child development preferred
- Ability to lead fun and structured activities for groups of children
- Comfortable teaching in an outdoor park environment
- Strong communication and classroom management skills

Physical Demands and Working Environment: Work may be performed in a variety of indoor and outdoor settings, including City facilities such as community centers, City parks, Lake Washington School District facilities and off-site locations. Work settings may involve high levels of noise, many people, adverse weather conditions, uneven terrain, standing for extended periods of time, and interruptions.
