Be the architect of a new, future focused safety training program

NorthStar is launching a brand new role, and we're looking for a forward thinking Senior Safety Program Trainer to help shape the future of safety excellence across our natural gas, biomass, wind, and solar operations.

What You'll Do

As the Senior Safety Program Trainer, you'll lead the development and delivery of high quality safety instruction and innovative learning experiences. Your work will include:

Training & Program Development



  • Create engaging lectures, hands on activities, and e learning modules to reinforce safe work practices.
  • Continuously refine curricula, lesson plans, and instructional materials to improve learning outcomes.
  • Coordinate all aspects of the training program including scheduling, resources, and cross functional collaboration.


Safety Culture & Field Engagement



  • Partner with on site Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) teams to assess current practices, identify opportunities, and standardize safety procedures enterprise wide.
  • Support outage safety initiatives through orientations, presentations, and on site engagement.
  • Promote a strong, unified safety culture across diverse work environments.


Innovation & Continuous Improvement



  • Apply continuous improvement frameworks such as PDCA, Lean, or Six Sigma to enhance safety practices.
  • Conduct compliance audits, strengthen documentation quality, and drive improvements through data based insights.
  • Stay current with industry trends and modern adult learning methodologies to elevate employee learning experiences.



What You Bring



  • Proven experience designing and delivering safety or technical instruction in industrial, utility, power generation, or similar environments.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA, NERC, and other relevant safety regulations.
  • Expertise in engaging diverse audiences, from field employees to leaders.
  • Proficiency with instructional design tools, e learning platforms, and standard office software.
  • Experience with process improvement frameworks (Lean, Six Sigma, PDCA).
  • Strong communication, organization, and time management skills.
  • Ability to innovate, adapt, and apply modern learning strategies.



Education & Experience



  • Bachelor's degree required in Occupational Safety, Training & Development, Education, or related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Master's degree preferred.
  • 4+ years of relevant experience required.
  • Safety related certifications such as Lockout/Tagout, Confined Spaces, Hot Work, HAZWOPER, First Aid/CPR/AED Instructor, Hoisting & Rigging, Forklift, or Aerial Lift are preferred.



Where You'll Work

This role offers exposure to a variety of work environments:



  • Corporate / Home Office - 50%
  • Field visits / Travel - 50% including power plants and renewable energy sites


This role requires the ability to lift up to 30 pounds, navigate industrial environments, and engage with employees working in dynamic and sometimes hazardous settings.
