| Position Summary |
The Department of Pharmacology is seeking a Research Technician to support research activities in the Dominguez and Aleman Labs. This position performs established computational analyses using R, Python, and Linux and maintains research materials, including datasets, scripts, workflows, and figures. Responsibilities include processing sequencing data, following defined protocols, and documenting work in accordance with laboratory and University standards. The technician prepares figures and summary analyses for manuscripts and presentations and works with lab personnel to ensure activities support project objectives and comply with data handling requirements. |
| Minimum Education and Experience Requirements |
Demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work. |
| Management Preferences |
Experience working in Linux/Unix environments with proficiency in at least one scientific programming language (R or Python).
Demonstrated ability to analyze
RNA sequencing or other high throughput genomics datasets using established computational biology methods.
Familiarity with analytical techniques such as k mer counting and
RNA secondary structure prediction.
Experience producing research figures, data visualizations, and contributions to scientific manuscripts.
Familiarity with published research themes from the Dominguez and Aleman Labs and experience with reproducible research practices, including Git based version control and workflow documentation. |
