The Responsible AI Group focuses onidentifying, measuring, mitigating, andmonitoringResponsible AI risks in AI-generated and human-generated content spanning text, image, audio, video, and multimodal content. We are looking for a Member of Technical Staff who is truly AInative-someone who experiments constantly, builds with modern AI tools for fun, anddelivers impact through rapid iteration cycles. In this role, you'll shape and ship highperformance, highly available AI services that enable people to build and use AI responsibly. What We're Looking For A builder wholives and breathes AI-you regularly prototype, experiment, or ship features using modern AI tools, frameworks, and model APIs. Experience working with generative AI systems (e.g., LLMs, diffusion models, multimodal models), including prompt engineering, evaluation, or finetuning. Handson experience with AI-assisted coding tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code). Familiarity with Responsible AIand securityconcepts or strong interest in learning them deeply. Experience working in fastpaced, experimental environments (startups, prototypes, or incubation teams). Comfort with taking ideas from ambiguous beginnings to production, iterating fast with customer insights Responsibilities Prototype, build, and iterate on new Responsible AI tools and capabilities that make it simple for developers to build and deploy AI responsibly at scale. Apply subject-matterexpertisein cross-product features, collaborating withappropriate stakeholdersto drive project plans, release plans, and deliverables across multiple groups. Proactively seek out new knowledge and adapt tonew trends, technical solutions, and patterns that improve the availability, reliability, efficiency, observability, and performance of products while also driving consistency in monitoring and operations atscale, andshare knowledge with other engineers. Work effectively in a fast-paced product environment where rapid prototyping, tight feedback loops, and iterative learning are core to how we build. Qualifications Required Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience. Other Requirements: Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter. Preferred Qualifications Demonstratedtrack recordof high-impactinnovation, open-sourcecontributionsor publications. Experience working on safety, alignment, or Responsible AI. 6+ years of technical engineering experience designing and deliveringhighly available, large-scale cloud services. 4+ years of technical engineering experience with machine learningmodels. Ability to navigate the company, and influence and inspire peers in engineering and broad product development. Software Engineering IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $139,900 - $274,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $188,000 - $304,200 per year.
