Job Summary
The Equipment Manager oversees and manages all equipment and uniform responsibilities for the LA Galaxy. The position will work closely with LA Galaxy Team Management to fulfill all necessary responsibilities and equipment operational standards.

Essential Functions



  • Creates, monitors, and manages the annual equipment budget, ensuring on-going expenses stay within budget. Develops a working budget for the following season based on end of season inventory, working closely with the General Manager and Sr. Director of Soccer Operations regarding fiscal planning. Plans and submits equipment and uniform orders in advance for the following year, staying within budgetary guidelines. Determines what to order based on analyzing the needs of 8 different teams, factoring in planned or possible changes in personnel, travel schedule, locations, and branding. New teams may be added from year to year as well. Responsible for the process of soliciting and evaluating bids for bulk orders from designated athletic supplier, making product selections (and/or recommendations), placing formal purchase orders, and following up on all bids and orders pertaining to equipment throughout the course of the season.
  • Maintains up-to-date understanding of MLS Team Branding, athletic supplier procedures and MLS Operations Manual relating to athletic equipment, uniforms, and footwear. Ensures all branding rules and requirements are met whenever team is on the field, by staying on top of email updates and requirements from MLS sent per game as well as cross-referencing with athletic supplier branding rules. Develops plan for imaging and designing Galaxy jerseys in accordance with MLS rules and standards. Designs size and placement of numbers, patches and player names and submits design to the League for approval.
  • Oversees the execution of all athletic equipment and daily uniforms for the LA Galaxy team players, coaches and support staff. Works closely with Assistant Manager to execute all the equipment responsibilities. Provides quality control insight that equipment is well-maintained, clean and ready for use at practice fields and off-site locations. Designs and works with builders to construct adequate storage space for athletic equipment, clothing, luggage and footwear as needed for soccer operations staff and players.
  • Assigns responsibility to Assistant manager regarding specific needs with visiting teams' trainers and equipment personnel regarding building availability, arrival times, and practice schedules, etc. as well as communicating visiting team needs with Assistant Manager and facility employees through written and verbal correspondence.
  • Serves as Galaxy's primary point of contact with the league as it pertains to equipment and attends league meetings. Translates notes to Assistant Manager for execution. Works to develop and maintain positive relationships within the league to ensure understanding of arena regulations and set up during games. Coordinates the support to opposing teams, league visitors and supplier employees with equipment needs, set up, or jersey alterations while visiting. This benefits the Galaxy as well, should unexpected equipment needs develop when travelling.


Required Qualifications



  • BA/BS Degree (4-year)
  • 4-6 years of related work experience
  • Current membership in the Athletic Equipment Managers Association and ability to participate in necessary meetings and communications
  • Excellent written and oral skills
  • Knowledge of sport team operations
  • Knowledge of soccer equipment and how to make effective repairs or modifications
  • Demonstrated leadership skills
  • Ability to keep, maintain, and prepare effective and accurate records
  • Ability to maintain effective relationships with management, league officials, facility representatives, media, and fellow Soccer Operations staff employees
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information
  • Strong organizational skills that reflect the ability to perform and prioritize multiple tasks seamlessly with excellent attention to detail
  • Ability and willingness to work nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Familiarity with MLS, USL is a plus
  • Bilingual in Spanish is a plus


Payscale: $73,266 - $80,000

Bonus:This position is eligible for a bonus under the current bonus plan requirements.
